Iowa WBB 2025 Recruiting Thread

She won't see the floor much, if that continues.
You can't teach 6'5" with some athleticism. Hannah was under 50% her first year at Iowa I believe. Another REALLY important thing to remember, if your shooting that many free throws, then your drawing a LOT of fouls on the opposing team, and their post players are going to be spending a LOT of time on the bench.

That question is almost the opposite of what I stated. My guess is that to start next year the lineup and playing time is going to fluctuate based on the opponent. By the end of the year it could be a different story. Still going to be a very young team at spots and none of us know how their game will develop over the next 9 months.

I think Jan will settle on her starting five prior to the Big Ten season starts.

Just a reminder now that our 3 incoming commits high school seasons are over, Addie Deal still has at least 3 more games to play in.

1) The Throne High School Basketball National Championship Tournament on March 27-29, 2025 - She is part of the 8 teams participating in a single elimination tournament. Could be as many as 3 games if they make the finals.
Look at that young lady in the fourth pic under 'The Throne Selected Teams'. She's a headliner for it!

For more info on this tournament...
"NEW YORK (Jan. 30, 2025) — The National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) and Gold Level Sports and Entertainment (GLSE) announced today the return of The Throne, a one-of-a-kind platform bringing a bracket-style basketball tournament to the high school ranks. The Throne will feature the nation’s top eight boys’ and girls’ high school basketball teams competing for the title of National Champions. The tournament is set to take place in East Rutherford, N.J., at American Dream from March 27-29, 2025. The championship teams in the boys' and girls' brackets will be awarded a grant from the NBPA Foundation to support their respective athletic programs."

2) McDonald's All American Game on April 1, 2025 - She is one of 24 McDonald's All American participants.

3) Jordan Brand Classic on April 18, 2025 - She is one of 26 Jordan Brand All-American participants.
"Congratulations to @iowawbb Commit @addie.deal on being named a @jordanclassic All-American!!!"

Addie Deal was also one of 10 just named to The Times' 2024-25 All-Star girls' basketball team.
"Addison Deal, Mater Dei, 6-0, Sr.: The Iowa commit and McDonald’s All-American averaged 19.9 points for the Trinity League champions."

I think she will be good but it will take time, maybe a redshirt year? The level of competition in Alaska probably wasn’t real good.

Name the last Iowa Women’s Basketball player that used a red shirt with out an injury.

And do you not think her stateside play in summer leagues did not have something with many major programs recruiting her?

What’s making me nervous is I am not hearing much from Harpring, Born or any of the other prized recruits. I don’t think the 30 point blowout helped us in that department.

In Lisa Bluder's first season at Iowa, the Hawks went 21-10.

In Jan Jensen's first season at Iowa, the Hawks have gone 23-11.

I think that Jan has, at the very least, illustrated that we shouldn't expect much "let-up" from what we saw under Bluder. Now, the real question, is whether we should expect to see the Hawks reach the next level. That, I don't know. However, I'm hopeful.

The 30 point blow out is where we are as a program against elite competition. I know that’s hard for you to admit. These elite recruits want to win and go deep into the tournament.

Oklahoma lost by 41 to South Carolina earlier this year and just signed the #1 player in the nation yesterday. Kids are smart enough to know bad nights happen.

While Oklahoma was certainly a deeper/better team than Iowa as evidenced by the recent game…they likely aren’t 30 points better than Iowa…particularly on a neutral court. OU got a lot of “home cooking” from the refs. The Vegas point spread for that game was 9.5 pts in favor of Oklahoma…that seems about right.

For the record, I believe the answer to your question is Alexis Sevillian in 2016-2017. It's not something Iowa does very often.

I don't think Hays will redshirt, mainly because beyond Heiden and Stuelke Iowa doesn't have another player on the roster that can play the 5 next year.

+ the way Heiden and Stuelke pick up fouls from lame zebras it's most likely a zero% chance Hays redshirts. Hays needs to be ready for action early in the 1st qtr of the 1st game.

And they beat USC, came a call away from beating UCLA, a shot away from beating OSU, with one legit star on the team. That's actually remarkable--and I think they will be okay.

'26 recruits won't do anything until they take visits, and evaluate the rev share situation.
Maybe relax?

As they say "the proof is in the pudding". Or in this case on the floor and scoreboard.

Iowa lost by 32 to Baylor and then Clark committed. Obviously a couple rounds later than this game, but the players are smart enough to know this was a transition year for Iowa.

By the time the 2026 class gets to campus, the only players who played in this game that would still be on Iowa's roster are Heiden, Guyton, Stremlow, and Levin. That will probably be a big selling point. Come here, play a lot early, and we can get back to that Final Four level.

I heard today that we are top half for rev share in B1G. I hope that they are off and we are more towards top 2 or 3 in B1G… we need to have the money to compete nationally for the top talent.

I would be shocked if Beth is not aware of this, and I would hope that Iowa is way above the average for next year's revenue sharing for WBB.

Source/Link? Then doesn't jibe with what I've heard from Brad H. and Beth G.
I cannot link to or share that information— It’s a private discord of someone pretty in the know. I really hope that they are wrong though and we are more toward top 3.

Here’s a summary of what was discussed:

- Someone asked the source about rev share in the B1G for WBB. They said USC/UCLA/Oregon would be 3 of the better ones.

- An Iowa poster asked the source about Iowa and they said they don’t know the exact figure, but it was pretty solid and they would be “Top half ish” of the B1G. (That doesn’t sound good if we’re not top 3 in our conference imo unless we have crazy NIL as well)

- Also, a Nebraska poster said that Nebraska Insider stated they would be doing $1.5-$2M from rev share, but doesn’t know how their NIL looks.

———

I hope that we are doing well in all of these areas, but who’s to be sure. One thing I am hoping is that people are still donating to WBB NIL.

I understand and think it is great that the university and fans are trying to promote donating to MBB right now because I want them to succeed. However, I am worried that people think we are doing fine for WBB and that our NIL is not as competitive as we believe nationally with the top programs (especially if we are only in the top half of the Big Ten for rev share). We have a real opportunity here to capitalize and become a top program, but if we don’t have enough money to compete with the other top programs or fans don’t show up like they did last year, that will negatively affect recruiting, and we will lose out on this window.

Chad Leistikow's recent article--linked here--insinuates Beth plans to give WBB enough in revenue sharing to compete for Top-20 recruits. We also know from this tweet that Texas Tech intends to give its WBB $410k in revenue sharing. I'd guess that's in the middle or lower end of the Big 12.

@HawksGoneWild1 and I both tried to reverse engineer a rough estimate for WBB's revenue share number on page 60 of this thread. We both got to a similar number. Doesn't mean we're right, but even at a couple hundred thousand dollars less, I'd still guess that's at or near the top of the conference. I presume Iowa leads the Big Ten in revenue generated for WBB, which doesn't hurt.

The 2026 class also shows Iowa is still competitive financially IMO. If Iowa didn't have the money needed to actually land some of our Top 20 targets, I think Jan would've pivoted to other targets by now. For the moment she's operating like Iowa still has a chance.

My worry is that higher percentages were promised to McCollum, and thus reducing WBB back to average numbers. Not a great time to be hiring a new coach. (I'm still hoping it is a top percentage for WBB.)
Chad's article linked in my last reply insinuated MBB had a set number on the rev share side and would need to make up the difference in NIL. That could've changed, but I somewhat doubt it changed drastically.

I do think MBB NIL could have a negative impact on WBB NIL. WBB might've benefited from the apathy that set in for MBB the last couple years.

That said, rev share will likely be a much bigger portion of the pot available to WBB than NIL, so even some reduction might not reduce things too much.
