With Indiana, Maryland, and LSU all losing - have to wonder if the Hawkeyes could be one of the 4 #1 seeds in the NCAA tournament if they capture B1G tourney???
I think the committee will hold their number of losses against them. More likely, we'll be the top 2 seed, and Maryland will fall behind us as a 2 as well. With Indiana, Maryland, and LSU all losing - have to wonder if the Hawkeyes could be one of the 4 #1 seeds in the NCAA tournament if they capture B1G tourney???
No chance after today. We own two wins over teams that were projected as 1 seeds, one on a neutral floor. As long as we’re not the last 2 seed and thus matched with South Carolina
And UCLA just beat Stanford. Having seen these teams play in Tempe and on the coast, Iowa, Indiana or Maryland are better on most nights than Stanford or Utah. There's the typical West Coast media push to keep a PAC 12 team as a #1 seed, perhaps the CC influence will change that narrative.Don't forget that Utah also lost early in the Pac12 tourney.
Or handing the npoy award to someone less deserving once again....No chance after today. We own two wins over teams that were projected as 1 seeds, one on a neutral floor.
Win or lose, we shouldn't be paired with South Carolina again unless the committee just fudges the pairings to fit their agendas (for example, ratings etc)........

I mean, they already are a two seed......

This is my thought as well. I think they have a 2 seed in the bag but win today and they could move up to the 1 line.
I just don't see any way you keep Iowa from being a 1 seed with a win today. Given how poor the officiating is consistently against them it would just add fuel to the fire that someone has it out for them since they never seem to catch a break with these things. But you'd think, if conspiracies were real, they'd go out of their way to keep the most well known and marketable player in the tournament as long as possible.I mean, they already are a two seed......
It's a matter of whose bracket they end up in.
Right now, South Carolina, Indiana, Stanford and Maryland are the projected 1 seeds.
Iowa owns 3 combined wins over two of those teams.
Virginia Tech, LSU, and Utah are the other projected 2 seeds.
Neither Virginia Tech nor Utah should be ahead of Iowa on the seed line, and that will hopefully be reflected after the BTT win or lose tomorrow.
The question will be, will the committee stubbornly keep Iowa off the 1 line if they win the BTT, and who besides Maryland will they put in their place?
This is also true, especially if Clark isn't playing well because of injury. I'm not sure if it's because Maryland really clamped down on her or what but she didn't seem to be the same player after she took that charge yesterday. It's not going to be easy tomorrow. Jacy Sheldon is back for Ohio State and played pretty well today. With her back, their press will be more effective than when Iowa last played them.
My friend Paul suggested buy Iowa mbb tickets with him for 1969-70 (undefeated in the BIG10) year. I was hooked. Paul moved to Arizona and is a fan down there with a lingering fondness for the Hawkeyes. About the same time Indiana beat us on the road Stanford beat Arizona by 24. Paul wrote:Locks for a #1 seed is South Carolina, Indiana and LSU. Even though Indiana and LSU are not playing for a conference championship their overall season makes a case. It is the 4th #1 seed that will make the decision tough. Stanford and Utah have fewer losses, but lost before the conference final. Maryland has same number of losses as Iowa and lost twice to Iowa. IF Iowa wins the BTT, the lowest ranking they deserve is the 1st #2 seed or the last #1 seed.
Unfortunately, I don’t think that Paul is on the seeding committee.I’m sorry for your loss. Here’s the good news: I was at the Stanford beat down of Arizona, and both Indiana and Iowa are better than Stanford.

My buddy, Midnight Nick, was telling me back in 1989 that we could beat the California Golden Bears in b-ball.My friend Paul suggested buy Iowa mbb tickets with him for 1969-70 (undefeated in the BIG10) year. Which, in this case, is just as good as the last #1 seed.I believe the top 2 seed is the most likely outcome if the Hawks beat OSU.

Just avoid South Carolina and we have a chance against any of those other #1s.Agree 100%.
