I attended the Iowa WBB Awards Banquet tonight. They were going to have the event in the Feller room but demand was so great that they moved it to one of the practice courts. It still sold out a week ahead of the date. Tiffany O'Donnell from KGAN emceed. Coach Bluder gave a game by game rundown of the season. They also showed a highlight film.
The players and their parents were introduced, with the seniors each speaking.
Awards went to Melissa Dixon for FT%, Samantha :Logic for assists, Bethany Doolittle and Sam shared the rebounding award. Chase Colely won for FG%. The leadership award went to Sam, most improved went to Kali Peschel. Melissa (and I think Alexa`Kastanek) won the above and beyond award. All the other awards, academic and B1G, plus national awards were noted as well. They has a short blooper reel as well.

Thanks Oak, sounded like a great time. I would have loved to have seen the blooper reel.

Should mention that the players were all dolled up and looked fantastic. The Hawks are the best looking team with brains and talent.
Ally had her arm in a sling due to her surgery.

Oakhawk or others,
I noticed Claire Till's playing time diminished greatly at the end of the season. It was speculated that it was due to her chronic knee problems. Will she be able to continue playing next year or are the injuries potentially career ending? TIA

With Claire you never know. She will be a SR She is one of those players that only knows one speed, all out, all the time. If she can play, she will be out there. We will know more when GTL comes around.

Till has always been my favorite player so I sure hope she is good to go. No one plays harder and she is not afraid to take a punch or a shove or dish one out! Oak if you hear anything please share.

Yes, it would be good to have some of her experience down low to help Chase Coley to develop in to the presence that Bethany Doolittle was next year. Hopefully it will be a special year for her.

I think a fringe benefit of having Claire Till healthy and getting a lot of playing time is perhaps having her mom in the broadcast booth for more of Iowa's games this coming year, and helping make sure that we have someone up there that will be more honest and observant about things that officiating is letting go, etc. too then.

If Claire is playing in the GTL I would think she is doing well If she doesn't, it might be not to risk it, or that trouble persist. So we might now more by early June.

When Shelly wasn't there for radio is usually seemed because she was on the BTN. Not sure which booth you're talking about, but both she and Balbanot (sp) are pretty blunt on the radio about what's going on.

If by "blunt" you mean Brent thought every call that went against Iowa was wrong, then yes, he is blunt.

Did Melissa Dixon win a 3pt shooting percentage award? It seems she should have, she was awesome.
