Iowa women bounce Boilers, remain in 1st place

Lead by MacKenzie Meyer's 22 points, the Iowa Women go to
W Lafayette and bounce a pretty good Boiler team to remain in
Top spot in BIG10.

The BTN, of course, is trying to tout Maryland, however the
Hawkeyes already beat them head to head.

Next game at Maryland, could decide the title regular season. Will be tough but do not count Coach Bluder and the Hawks out. Doyle is tough home and away and the win today shows they are for real - on the road in Mackey Arena is tough. Go Hawks and good luck Thursday in College Park.

After today's game I felt better about Iowa's chances at Maryland. The Michigan game appears to be an aberration due to Czinano's injury. She's back in full force now.

Its also not like the success of the girls program under Lisa is an insular good in itself, although it is obviously great in and of itself. Boys or girls, anything that creates a mental link between "Iowa" and "basketball" helps both programs.

What a great asset for the University of Iowa and a great job by the girls she coaches.

Maryland was that crazy stat game where they had like 20 to 30 more shots than us from out rebounding us so bad but still scored 6 less points than us.They are playing much better now. Been unbeatable at home till thursday

well they missed the tourney a couple years and hadn’t really had the high level success to offset it. I don’t think it was completely out of line. Sometimes a bit of pressure makes coaches take a fresh look at stuff.

So, if Iowa can make the deficit on rebounds under 15 this Thursday, they'll be sure to get away with a win again. Not too much to ask for, right?

Was she hurt the first half of the year? Warnock is really, really good. Obviously Monica is a huge surprise this year. When Mackenzie plays well Iowa is really good. Ollinger really in a nice rhythm at both ends. Sevillian has it going. On down the line everybody is playing pretty damn well. Hell, when Kate Martin comes in she makes an immediate impact. The only player who has kind of hit a wall is Gabbie. If she can get comfortable again, watch out. Who knows, maybe at Maryland she catches fire.

gabbie hitting a wall I think is the reason for Zion and Kate are playing more. Gabbie was a real threat from 3 but has lost her confidence in her shot. If Gabbie isn't scoring then both Zion and Kate bring more size which should help in rebounding and trapping.
