Doesn’t matter now. The NCAA just trumped the bracketologies with a 2 seed for Iowa. Pretty cool but I’d rather see them in the Chicago regional than a 2.
If the ESPN bracket holds true, Tennessee will have a rude awakening in Iowa City, if they can get past SD State.I wouldn’t want to face Tennessee. I know they are down and an 11, but for whatever reason teams like them always find a way to still make some noise in the tournament.

By the way we will have a chance to see Tagyn Larson play again. And she can celebrate an IC reunion with Gustafson, Stewart and Davis.
I don't know, the last time I saw Tennessee play in Iowa City in the NCAA Tournament, they beat U Conn in the regional finals and went on to win the national championship. That was the 1996 - 1997 season. Iowa was a 4 seed and hosted the first two rounds as well, but they lost to 5 seed Kansas. I still remember the Jayhawk mascot!Remember what happened to Tennessee the last time played in Iowa City in the NCAA Tournament??? A repeat performance would be nice!
Iowa is in Greensboro with Baylor because Baylor is the top 1 seed and Iowa is the last 2 seed (8 overall). The main goal is balance, but you do see geography used a bit, too. For example, keeping 5 seed Oregon in Portland against 3 seed Notre Dame isn’t a stretch. But they wouldn’t put 6 seed Mississippi State in Greensboro over 8 Iowa just because it’s closer for them.Since Chicago isn’t closest regional site to Maryland, seems decent chance Iowa could get Chicago region, no?
Ah, my memory failed me. In 1997 Iowa lost to U Conn in the second round as a 9 seed. It was in 1998 that Iowa lost to Kansas at home. But Tennessee did beat U Conn in Iowa City in 1997.
Iowa played a much stronger schedule than Maryland (#15 vs #79) which is why Iowa is getting the nod for that #2 seed right now and NCST has lost 4 of their last 8.Iowa is in Greensboro with Baylor because Baylor is the top 1 seed and Iowa is the last 2 seed (8 overall). I do find it fascinating that the committee still has Iowa as a higher seed than Maryland, as they did in their initial bracket. Of course we beat them, but Maryland won the regular season conference title and has a better record. They’ve only lost 3 games all season.

I can see those pairings, but you are correct that the committee is keeping UConn in the Albany region for ticket sales; same reason they are keeping Oregon in Portland. No way they would ever send the most popular team in the country out of their geographical region - they would figure out some way to put them in the northeast!I say #2 Louisville and #8 Iowa in a Chicago
#1 Baylor and #7 Stanford in Greensboro
#3 ND and #6 Miss St in Albany
#4 UConn and #5 Oregon in Portland
I bet the committee was counting on UConn in Albany for ticket sales
Also, Chicago is closer to Waco than Greensboro is
Hey, @jockos - where did you find SOS for the women? I can only find rankings and RPI.Iowa played a much stronger schedule than Maryland (#15 vs #79) which is why Iowa is getting the nod for that #2 seed right now and NCST has lost 4 of their last 8.
I so remember this game. Winning against a Pat Summitt led Tennessee team was huge! I had to watch on TV, and if I recall correctly, an earlier game ran late and I was so pissed off because it was such an important game. I just wanted to watch it! I was jumping up and down with joy when Iowa won that game - and those after until they lost against OSU.Iowa played Tennessee in Iowa City in 1993 winning 73-57 to advance to their only final four to date.

I think Tagyn plays small forward.South Dakota State is no pushover, though. They beat Drake, who gave the Hawks all they wanted until Megan fouled out their 2 centers in the 4th quarter.
I don’t think Tagyn can handle Megan any better than Drake could, though...
TY!Here you go: http://www.realtimerpi.com/rpi_187_Women.html
Iowa SOS 15; MD SOS 80.
Nice job of scheduling, Coach Bluder. Iowa only played 5/11 non-conference games against 100+ RPIs, while Maryland played 8/11 (included 3 with 300+).

When Iowa hosts in two weeks, what type of home crowd would be expected?
