Down 72-53 to Penn State in the 4th Q at home to a 6-11 (1-5 B1G) team. This Iowa womens team is quickly looking like a team that will not be in the NCAA tournament.

Iowa was down 46-38 @ half time

Poor effort out of the Hawkeye women tonight. I know they're young...but they're also not very good. Weak fundamentals. Lisa should sit down with Fran and ask him about taking care of the basketball, playing defense and rebounding. She also needs to be more flexible in her coaching style to fit her personnel...like Fran.

The only thing worse than watching the game was listening to the commentators. They were just plain awful.

You cannot lose to Penn State on your home floor like this. Penn State has been terrible this year. The PSU women had not won a game on the road all year. Heck, PSU lost to Cal State- Northridge on the road and Northridge is 2-15 on the year. This was a really bad loss for Lisa Bluder & Iowa womens basketball.

Penn State controlled the entire game and Iowa had no chance to win. That is very disappointing...especially at CHA! The team lacks fire (except Disterhoft, Gustafson and Davis). You need more than 3 gamers!!!

I know it's easy to armchair quarterback...but I would start Coley, Gustafson, Disterhoft, Jennings and Davis. I would play inside-out and shoot fewer 3s (I don't see Dixon out there anymore). My bench would be Buttenham, Kastanek, Stewart and Larsen. I would play Peschel and Till as necessary (foul trouble, injury, etc). This team does miss Mohns...she was coming on!

I would focus on defense, rebounding, ball handling and free throw shooting in practice I'd quit trying to be the highest scoring team in the B1G and work on a winning strategy with flexibility to suit the personnel as much as possible. This is not a good 3-point shooting team (.317 prior to tonight's debacle).

Had to mute the game after one of the women said some Penn State players were "injured with injuries".

Bluder has to shake things up big time. She has to either change up the starting lineup or get some people in the game who currently aren't playing.
Or this season is going to go south fast.

The commentators were teenage UI students just coming back from the break. At least they don't sound biased like those for the game at Nebraska. I'm happy that BTN or UI gave the students a chance. Wonder why the games at Nebraska and Wisconsin used their regular radio commentators for the audio. Perhaps it's because the students at those schools were at the break then.

A combo of us struggling, with a PSU team that has some athleticism and had been struggling themselves for the last season and a half. I thought they looked a lot like their old selves from two years ago, and was wondering when they'd be back.

On our side, we had 8 years of on-court leadership from Sam Logic and Kachine Alexander, but we don't have that spark plug now. Kastanek's been in a shooting slump for several games, and Peschel probably needs to be coming off the bench, where she excelled last year. Really thought Gustafson would be playing more minutes by now, and I still think even as a freshman she's one of our best bigs.

Well we only have two bigs so she should be one of the best. The other big, Coley, played fairly well. She led the team in scoring with 16 points on 7-10 shooting. Playing them together seems like it's becoming more a necessity than just an option. Happened a bit last night, but probably not enough for a lot of us armchair coaches.

Also, it was the best fourth quarter in some time, but that was probably because of PSU's big lead going in.

While a much nicer person with a lot more class and demeanor on the sideline; Bluder's coaching reminds me of Tom Crean. Very little emphasis on defense, protecting the ball, or rebounding- generally rely on the 3 ball and fast breaks

As "bigs" I count everyone playing the 4 & 5 positions. Sorry if that doesn't match your definition.

Penn State has lost some close games, and they are pretty athletic. I would think that Stewart and Larsen would get some minutes when we're down 20 in the second half. We (I) don't see practice, but with Lex and Kali and Christina struggling, I would think they should at least get a few minutes. I thought when Mohns got hurt that we would see Stewart for sure. They need a win to get back on track and I'm not giving up on them for sure.

It seems like Lex and Kali seem to dribble inside alot with no real plan of attack. Usually ends up a turnover. I still love the hawks, but agree should at least give Stewart and Larson a chance. What's it going to hurt.
