It is great to be an Iowa Wrestling fan.

Go Hawks!

Little confused about the team scores - if a wrestler wins by fall, that's worth 5 points. Times 10 weight classes means a max sum of team scores would be 50 points. So how did we have multiple meets today that went over 50 points?

A tech is worth 5, a pin is worth 6. Im not sure how a team scored 1 point though unless it was infraction point or something, but usually a team would lose a point not the other team get a point.

A point is awarded to the losing wrestlers team if they score in the match but lose. But that is only in the case of decisions. Even if a wrestler scores a point in a match but then gets pinned, she does not get a point in that case.

In freestyle dual scoring, a tech is 4 and a pin is 5, since there are no major decisions. Also the losing wrestler scores a point for their team if they scored a point during their match (and didn't get pinned)

Seems like maybe they were using 6 for pin and 5 for tech but still awarding the points for the losing wrestlers as well, a kind of hybrid scoring system. Not sure why they would do that though for these duals

This is how freestyle is scored.
I'm sorry, but it's not. Freestyle is scored 5 points for pin/forfeit/default and 4 for tech.

Looking at the results on Track, it appears that they corrected the scoring for each dual yesterday. I'm assuming the original scores were due to some mistake with how the scoring was set up initially in Track. Looks like there is still a discrepancy in the score with our Dual against William Jewell B as it shows us winning 44-3 when actually it should be 44-0

Corrected scores:
Iowa over William Jewell B 44-0 (shows 44-3 on Track)
1 weight was not contested, we won 6 weights by forfeit, 2 by fall, 1 by VSU

Iowa over Lindenwood 39-6
We forfeited one weight, won 2 weights by forfeit, 2 by fall, 4 by VSU and 1 by VPO1

Iowa over Missouri Baptist 41-7
We forfeited one weight, won 2 weights by forfeit, 3 by fall, 2 by VSU1 and 1 by VSU

Iowa over Fort Hayes St 36-1
1 weight was not contested, we won 2 weights by fall, 4 by VSU, 1 by VSU1 and 2 by VPO

Iowa over William Jewell 34-2
1 weight was not contested, we won 1 weight by fall, 5 by VSU, 2 by VPO1 and 1 by VPO

I was referring to the losing wrestler gaining a team point if they scored any offensive points during a match that did not result in a fall.
