Round 3 of the WNIT

Winner faces the winner of UC-Davis/Washington State.

Colorado was a .500 team prior to the tournament and seems like they are very beatable. They were 5-13 in the PAC 12.

Why has BTN2GO still not updated their site to put on the four games featuring B1G teams playing on Thursday night in the WNIT? It would seem that they are obligated to continue to cover B1G teams playing until the finals according to this article.

The 64-team single-elimination event begins this week and culminates with the championship game at 3 p.m. (ET) April 1 — all WNIT home games involving Big Ten schools from the first through the semifinal rounds will be televised live on BTN2Go and the BTN2Go app, with the title game airing live on CBS Sports Network. South Dakota won last year’s WNIT championship under the guidance of head coach Amy Williams, who recently completed her first season on the sidelines at her alma mater, Big Ten member Nebraska.

All of the B1G teams are still alive in the tourney and all are hosting their games on Thursday night too. Why is BTN2go waiting so long to get this on their schedule?

Looks like they just got Thursday's page updated now with the Big Ten WNIT games on it.

Keep shooting AK!!!

I'm really happy for Alexa tonight. She's always been a streaky shooter but some nights she just goes off. AK has been solid but never really lived up to the hype as a shooter she was expected to be. I hope she can find her consistency for the rest of the season and possibly have a shot at playing overseas.

80-62 final

congratulations to the Hawkeyes----a great team effort---keep it going

Looking like it's gonna be Washington State unless UC Davis starts to mount a rally.

Here's the other Quarterfinal matchups:

Alabama at Georgia Tech (we'd play the winner in the Final Four)

Virginia Tech at Michigan
Villanova at Indiana

I see Washington State's record is 14-19. How did they get into the WNIT? They did beat UCLA, though.
Finished high enough in their conference or tournament?.....

Dunno, but the committee must've viewed them as one of the 32 best remaining teams that didn't get an auto bid to the WNIT.

Washington State actually isn't a terrible sub-.500 team. The Pac-12 is one of the toughest conferences in the country.

Colorado had just beaten Oregon. One of 5 PAC!2 teams in the NCAA Sweet16. Colorado went 6-4, 6-2, 6-2 up front. they had the size advantage. Add in that #15 was allowed to judo chop Meagan, and apparently there is no 3 seconds call in the NIT, it held Meagan to only 12.

It was pretty easy to see immediately how they were going to play Megan. Brutal.

The Hawkeye women's basketball team have a chance to host all the way to the WNIT championship game, but it depends on two things: the Hawks have to do their part by continuing to win, and the fans have to be our part by continuing to put butts in the seats. Both of our possible opponents (Alabama or Georgia Tech) after we win Sunday only had about 1,000 attend Thursday's game. Show up Sunday and bring a friend.

Don't think the lack of a 3-second call helped hold Megan to 12.

Kids get in free Sunday compared to the $9 for last night. That should help the crowd.

The no calls on the 4 seconds in the lane allowed them to get some baskets inside and shove Megan around some more.

WNIT awards an automatic bid to the highest finisher in each conference standings (after NCAA qualifiers are taken out of course)

Colorado at 5-13 in the conference finished below WSU. The Cougars have the worst record by far of the 8 remaining teams, 3 of which are from the Big Ten.

The Iowa City Press Citizen will probably not help garner many fans either since they do not have a story in today's print edition about the game. The game was over by 9:00 so there is absolutely no excuse for no coverage. So tell all your friends about the game and go enjoy at least one more home game and watch Ally and Megan extend their record totals.
