I found the Iowa/Wisconsin dual (Grace and Ironside) being broadcasted on WMT (600AM) Friday night. This is the first time that I noticed them on another station, not KXIC. Is this something that WMT is going to continue to do? Some time, especially at night, KXIC is hard to bring in. WMT would be a welcome aid to listening to Iowa wrestling.

I don't know one way or the other. I heard that last year WMT was approached about picking up the feed from KXIC and turned it down because the audience was too small. I can't verify that - just something I heard.

we should do a gofundme page to get the funds to broadcast on WMT...or WHO...or both...wasn't it last year that they needed the advertising dollars?

I believe it was last year. Wrestling needs to do a better job of selling advertising. As was noted in another thread, when you listen to KXIC you hear a lot of ads from rabid Hawk fans and financial supporters. In addition to Ironside Apparel and Steven Grace's Main Street Sweets, there are spots from Lepic-Kroeger Realtors and Dusty's Tire, both of whom are HWC donors. Given what I know about the fan base, I would also be selling ad time to hunting clubs and archery shops.

I contacted Randy Lee (Program director for WMT). I thanked them for their putting on the wrestling dual. He got back to me stating that they are planning to air the following duals:

WMT-AM is broadcasting selected Big Ten matches this season. Friday January 22nd, Friday January 29th and Friday February 5th.

Its a start. I put in my plug to get them to also broadcast the Big 10 and National Tournaments!

If you're a business owner, check and see what a spot during the broadcast might cost.

For those of us who aren't close enough to get the signal, will it be on the computer, I heart radio or other? I hope it isn't like the football games that broadcast other programming on the computer when the football game is on radio.

It will be exactly like that.

WMT casts a much wider audience. I could easily pick it up in the western Chicago suburbs. Thankfully now I live in close enough to KXIC too.

I don't believe that is necessarily true. There are definitely some contractual things that keep people from broadcasting what is local, on IHeart Radio. I tried listening to KXIC once online, knowing full well they would be doing the Iowa dual that night. First time it occurred to me to give it a shot. It wasn't on from an online/streaming perspective, my guess is because of All-Access and similar entities (I'm WAY too far away to hear the local feed).

They discussed this very topic last week after the Vikings game. A guy called into KFAN (Twin Cities All-Sports Channel), which has the Vikings radio broadcast rights, and he was an over the road truck driver, and he was mad as hell he couldn't get the Vikings game on IHeart Radio via KFAN from wherever it was he was at in the U.S.A. (assuming he's a Twin Cities resident or nearby and used to listening to KFAN).

KFAN DID have the Vikings game on locally and/or however far their signal will reach (they have feeds/Sister Stations in Mankato, Fargo and Duluth I believe), but due to NFL contractual issues, they had the Wild or Gophers or some Hunting/Fishing show on IHeart Radio at that time.

So I just want people to know there is always a chance you won't get to hear what you think you're going to hear by attempting to find a radio station online that you know full well broadcasts the event locally you're hoping to get. Follow the money.

I'm very confused by your post. Maybe my brain is fried from a long day but I'm pretty sure you just disagreed with me by using 2 stories that support my opinion and a final paragraph that is completely unreadable.

I'm open to the idea that I could be wrong but I'm not seeing it in your post.

And you should be, because I read/interpreted your initial post wrong (or the one you replied to more specifically). My bad and my apologies.

Hopefully my earlier response will help someone else understand that if they aren't in the Local area that can pull in a free radio broadcast, they are most likely screwed as it relates to just going to IHeart Radio and thinking it's going to be there. Depending on the Sport and the Contracts for the broadcast rights, it may or may not be. Hopefully that helps someone! :D

theres no better commentary than Ironside and Grace....but if you want to see most the duals I higjly recommend spending the 20 bucks and subscribing to BTN2go....you can subscribe to Iowa only events and watch on delay too....when we were at Midlands...went back to the hotel and watched the Iowa basketball game on the tablet....they show the majority of the wrestling meets that aren't covered on big ten network...that being said sometimes the announcers are just plain bad....wish they would hook up with ironside and grace
