All our recruits should be winning state titles. I would hope they would be pinning "puds" at Districts

I guess I have a higher standard. I would expect our nationally rated recruits to dominate and this post seemed a little fluffy is all
I do communications for a living ... I didn't find the post at all to be fluffy ... The author shared results about the kid on the mat ... and provided a bit of input of his attitude off the mat ... Where's the "fluff"? ... Also, when you say you have a "higher standard" ... as in what? The kid pinned his 3 opponents ... Do we all assume you accomplished more in wrestling since your standards are so high? Unless you were good enough to wrestle at Iowa ... "shhhh"

Fluff might have been the wrong word. Maybe "blah"? Winning a state qualifying tournament and some pretty cliche comments from an AD. Maybe tell me what makes the AD say Myles is so committed, driven, etc.

Higher standard meaning we should expect these kind of results from our nationally ranked recruits. It shouldn't be "newsworthy". It should be another routine day at the office.

You trying to bring my wrestling career into this has nothing to do with what I am saying and is grasping at straws. I don't have to have a single wrestling match on my resume to have an opinion on a sport I follow thank you very much.

I appreciate Todd's work as well. Makes this board worth reading, and as dmlawdad said, it saves one having to research about our recruits.

I'm reluctant to ever criticize any HS kid who wants to wrestle for Iowa. Wilson is not all that highly ranked at his weight (#16 on Intermat), so I'm not necessarily expecting a world beater once he gets to Iowa, but kudos to him for trying, and one never knows...

Burak was not even in the top 100 so you never know.. I think Wilson has some talent.

Get a freaking grip. The guy is writing a blog for crying out loud and it cost you zero dollars to read it. Not everyone wants to take the time to go to track wrestling glean through results to try to find out how this kid did.

Holy crap the guy posts some meaningful insight on a future Hawks league results and there is negative feedback unbelievable this is a wrestling forum some people just need something to complain about ..

We can just admire the young men wrestle and daydream that we were still able to compete enough of this BS shut up and wrestle or watch wrestling that's what I say. Wrestlers are a special breed :mad:o_O Let's keep it that way...

Sorry Spooner. I guess I should have thrown a parade that our recruits qualified for his local state tournament.

It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to know that every guy that commits to Iowa probably qualified for the state tournament their senior year injury being the only exception. I don't see the need to glorify the fact that they pinned their way through Districts/sections/regionals/whatever the state calls it. That part should be a "no duh" kind of thing.

I hope you find todds next installment that Spencer Lee has qualified for his state tournament to be just as compelling information. good day.

I expect Gilman to win every match, therefore, please no more posting his results. Thank you.

A more apt comparison would be you expect Gilman to pin/TF every D3 kid he wrestles, but whatever fits your narrative bud. If you're all giddy a kid ranked nationally at his weight qualified for state by all means, get excited!!!

c'mon jay, i know you are tight with iawrestle guys, but let it go.

Nah man. This is about people being excited about our recruits are pinning Nobodies before State. As I state before I equate that to gilman going out and pinning a kid from Luther, not something to write home about.

I will admit you are right, it's time to let this thread go and let the people who get excited about this type of news have it. So this is my last post on the matter.

Maybe some of us enjoy reading about our recruits. I didn't see anyone declaring him the next 4 timer. Reading these blogs beats reading all the trolls posting about Vag Tech. I can't believe you are so angry about an article updating us on a Colorado recruit.

Jay on HR, all joking aside, I do share your high expectations, but I also know that you don't win the state tournament without qualifying. So while I do agree I'd rather hear about Myles winning a world title, I don't think some optimistic reporting is anything to criticize.

No one even came close to throwing a parade or glorifying him. Telling us about about a kid we don't hear or know much about and giving an update on his postseason isn't the crime you're making it out to be.

BTW, not every recruit is Spencer Lee. Not every recruit is going to pin their way to a state title. Heck, not even Spencer did that.

So to review, most of us crave information about how our guys look in the room ( and they are just wrestling room guys for crying out loud:confused:) but Jay JUST wants to know about high end competition ? Hell, that is an easy fix. Just avoid any post that isn't about the BIG tournament or Nationals and you should be clear of all the stench from the cesspool.
Speaking for only me, keep the posts about the recruits coming and be sure to include if they are running in to huddles or anything else of minor significance!

Sometimes on your road to a state title you might have to pin a somebody.

As if we needed more evidence, but damn Spencer is good! We are all salivating (and rightfully so) about what a great picked up Sasso would be and here is, getting owned by the King!

Some districts have 3 or 4 ranked guys. Obviously some of them dont make it so getting through districts itself is sometimes an accomplishment. Pinning your way through the right district is sometimes very difficult.
