IOWA

Like Kingsbury from Texas Tech good?
Kingsbury was considered an innovative young mind. Let me know when we get a coach poached for that also.

Win: well you know we do it roughly 60% of the time under KF. Fran.... well you know..... somebody has to be .500.

Graduate: yeah, it's pretty good if you just ignore the atrocious African American numbers.

Do it right: as soon as we get done paying off these lawsuits and finally have the last one die we will be happy to tell you how right we do it!

I have no idea how or why our fan base thinks our coaches are as infallible as they do. Like I said, I will shit a golden goose the day an Iowa football or basketball coach gets poached to take on a higher profile job.

I think Fran's results have been consistent with the history of Iowa Basketball.

In the last 57 years, Iowa has had 8 coaches, they have won 3 regular season B1G championships and been to the Sweet 16 only 6 times. They have won 51.2% of their conference games.

Among the 8 coaches, 2 are in the HOF. Both left Iowa.

One of these days Fran will be gone and someone will get hired. Maybe the Hawks will find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow (like they did with Garza), but I kinda doubt it.

Where you can go and have a 10+ year career for being a .500 coach. I just don't understand why our fanbase is alright with this. We will never be better if you dont try.

An innovative young mind with a losing record in the worst P5 conference.

We just lost our young RB coach to the NFL and our young OL coach to be the OC and HC-in-waiting at Wyoming.

Nice to see your criteria only matters until it doesn't.

Also, the fact that you take that lawsuit seriously and not the shameless cash grab that it is tells me all I need to know.

I was just pointing out that the NFL and NBA do not always go for the winning NCAA coach. You went off on some tangent lol. Get a grip dude. Fran is here for a while. try to find a positive with the guys we have and not be so negative all the time.

Name a year that we competed for the BIG10 title. I'll be waiting because it hasn't happened.
As recent as 2020-2021.

Fran is a great Coach. I know. How many years did you Coach or play High level Basketball?

Weren't we an overtime away from a sweet sixteen appearance? I think Fran finally has the players to play good enough defense to really make a run. If not this year then next.

Here's what I don't understand.

Lots of fans, such as yourself, are critical of Fran - saying he is average, mediocre or even below average. They point to his record and say that Iowa could do better. This is fair.

Lots of other fans, such as myself, "defend" Fran to some extent, feel he a good, or at least pretty good, coach. They point to his record and say that Iowa could do worse. This is also fair.

What I don't get is that some fans like you look at fans like me and somehow believe that fans like me think Fran (or KF) is infallible. That if we don't want to go get a new coach means we don't care about winning championships.

I've spent more time than I should on this board, and I have never seen a single poster anoint an Iowa FB or BB coach as infallible or anything remotely close.

Not wanting someone fired does not equal thinking they are infallible.

I would also say as a product this year, Fran did great - Top five many weeks; top ten all year long, and finished number 13 in the final rankings. Only one of 11 teams ranked every single week this year.

A trend could be just one year, the first one, and right now Iowa is trending up. Firing Fran right now is stupid by any metric after the season we just had? He earned himself next year without question.
