You knew it was only a matter of time. Enjoy your polio, measles, tuberculosis, smallpox whooping cough and mumps morans!:

Just 34% of Iowa adults now say all children should be required to receive standard shots unless they have a doctor-signed statement showing they have a medical reason not to be vaccinated, the poll shows. That’s down from 59% who supported such a requirement in 2015, when the Iowa Poll asked a similar question about childhood vaccinations.

The shifting opinions come amid controversy over COVID-19 vaccines, which are not included in the list of shots Iowa children are supposed to receive before attending school. The list of state-mandated shots includes those against measles, polio, mumps and whooping cough, which have been required for decades.

The new poll specifically asked how Iowans feel about the state law requiring children to be vaccinated against diseases other than COVID-19.

The new poll finds that 28% say the state should have no law on childhood vaccinations. Another 21% of Iowa adults favor allowing limited exemptions to childhood vaccine mandates for medical or religious reasons, while 14% back allowing broad exemptions, for personal reasons as well as medical or religious reasons. Three percent are unsure.

The 28% of adults who think Iowa should have no law on childhood vaccinations is up 12 percentage points from seven years ago, when 16% believed that.

The new Iowa Poll, conducted by Selzer & Co., is based on a sample of 813 Iowa adults. It was conducted from Feb. 28 to March 2 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.4 percentage points.

Iowa’s current childhood vaccination law allows exemptions for medical or religious reasons.

Public health experts say although some children have legitimate medical reasons not to receive specific vaccines, no major religion teaches that vaccinations are wrong.

A plurality of Iowa parents with children under 18 say there should be no law requiring children to receive vaccinations

Just 17% of Iowa Republicans favor requiring all children to be vaccinated against diseases other than COVID-19 unless they have a doctor-signed statement saying they have a medical reason not to receive the shots. But 56% of Iowa Democrats favor such a strict requirement, as do 34% of political independents.

On the other hand, 46% of Iowa Republicans say the state should have no law on childhood vaccinations, compared to just 5% of Democrats and 27% of political independents.

Did you honestly believe that the authoritarian action of requiring covid vaccines or face being fired or ostracized, would not have repercussions? The goverment has fed fear and backlash. But the goverment still has not fully removed the temporary emergency approval of the vaccines but will fire you if you don't get it.

Yep. As I Have said for a while, get ready for large scale Polio, measles/mumps….they’re all gonna be making a comeback. Even pre COVID, the nuts were multiplying enough that there were more and more small pockets of outbreaks.

Unbelievable….
Children in iron lungs, aaah the good old days. I was in grade school in the 50's and really hated those trips to the doctor to get the polio shot, but the sight of kids in those damn iron lungs sure took a lot of the hurt of the shot away.

This was my reality going to elementary school in the 60s. How did we ever survive this authoritarian government?;)

Yep, back then people knew the havoc and heartbreak those diseases could produce. Most had seen experience of them in their families and neighbors. They did the responsible thing and got their kids vaccinated instead of acting like spoiled entitled assholes whining about government "tyranny!." How soon people forget.

I hated it when the school sent home those permission slips so I could be vaccinated. I knew my parents would say yes. I would have loved to have anti vax parents back then, but in the end my parents were right as usual.

I predicted this early on. The vaccine mandates backfired and as a result we will now see more anti-vaxxers than ever before. Overplayed their hand now everyone will pay for it.

Fake news, those never existed…
(Kidding, but I’m sure that will be the next thing….)

Why did the sheeple of the US put up with the authoritarian vaccine mandates for so long in your opinion, Comrade?

I have said this over, and over again for the 9 months or so. The GOP is going to usher in a return to an era of diseases like polio or mumps afflicting Americans. You absolutely cannot pander to the anti vaccine nuts. Trump first started doing this in 2015. Why? He saw them as a bunch of rubes, who could be easily activated.
This has been the inevitable end, and Kimmie, and every politician who followed along will bear a burden. Too bad they won't care. Kimmie will run on a platform this year of how she saved Iowa from vaccines and socialism.

Same idiots will be crying when their kid or grandkids have some of these diseases. Thing is I won’t feel even a tiny bit sorry for them.

Who cares what the terminally stupid now think? Public schools are not going to bend to the will and wants of the uneducated masses. Vaccinate your kids or find an alternative education system for your little turds. It’s as simple as that.

The laws will be weakened in this regard. It’s already happening. It won’t be up to schools to decide.

How early? Back in the 60s? Vaccines have been mandated for a long, long time.

It‘s quite a different thing to force young kids to get vaccinated, with established vaccines, and who have no say in the matter…to forcing adults to get a vaccine that was recently created.
Most are able to recognize that distinction. Not you though.

LOL - You realize those vaccines weren't always "established" don't you? Sadly, I'm afraid you don't.

And mRNA has been tested for a long time. You continue to be clueless.

Do you think the "established" vaccines should still be mandated?

And when they were new, I’m sure compliance was much lower. But, you are too dumb to understand that.
I think some vaccines should be mandated. But, people like you are to blame for the lower vaccination rates we will see moving forward, due to your fanatical push for Covid vaccine mandates Thanks a lot.

Projection on authoritarianism. Don’t use words you don’t understand.

We're going to see more and more of these childhood diseases making a comeback. Children will pay the price - as always - for the stupidity of adults. But - hey - autism will disappear!! Right?

We'll see pregnant women being exposed to Rubella and the resulting congenital problems with the "babies"...

Congenital Rubella Syndrome (CRS)

Congenital rubella syndrome (CRS) is a condition that occurs in a developing baby in the womb whose mother is infected with the rubella virus. Pregnant women who contract rubella are at risk for miscarriage or stillbirth, and their developing babies are at risk for severe birth defects with devastating, lifelong consequences. CRS can affect almost everything in the developing baby’s body.

The most common birth defects from CRS can include:

  • Deafness
  • Cataracts
  • Heart defects
  • Intellectual disabilities
  • Liver and spleen damage
  • Low birth weight
  • Skin rash at birth
Less common complications from CRS can include:

  • Glaucoma
  • Brain damage
  • Thyroid and other hormone problems
  • Inflammation of the lungs
Although specific symptoms can be treated, there is no cure for CRS. Since there is no cure, it is important for women to get vaccinated before they get pregnant.

And when they were new, I’m sure compliance was much lower. But, you are too dumb to understand that.

What vaccines should be mandated now, and why?

The ones that are already mandated, except for Covid.
It is a fact that mandating the Covid vaccine will end up hurting overall vaccine acceptance and rates.

Well, look we got all three of you back. Lol.
You‘d all seemed to have disappeared when Covid fell out of the headlines.
You weren’t ready to let go yet though, I can see that.

Because people like you gave credence to the anti-vaxxers who have been around for a long time. Children will suffer and die that don't have to. People have suffered and died from Covid that didn't have to because of stupidity and ignorance like yours.

Well, there are other things going on these days. And your schtick has been thoroughly and repeatedly debunked. But I'm certain you will carry on with your nonsense.

Let people make their own decisions to live or die. This is America. They don’t want or need your opinion on this clearly.
Because they’ve already heard it, we all have, and it still didn’t matter to them.

And that's fine except when it affects others, as this does. Same reason we have smoking laws.

Debunked like your beliefs on masks? Which was exposed, especially as the CDC dropped the need for them, despite cases still currently being higher than they were last year…when we HAD to mandate them.

It doesn’t affect others much though. Because you can still get, and give Covid after being vaccinated. Remember? You‘d pivoted to saying the vaccine was really being about keeping you alive and out if the hospital.

Well they should have made (and ensured) the vaccines safe to begin with then, huh? That's their f'n bad. You should be outraged at CDC, HHS, Congress, etc. They crapped the bed and now they're stuck laying in it.

Let people make their own decisions to live or die. This is America. They don’t want or need your opinion on this clearly.
Because they’ve already heard it, we all have, and it still didn’t matter to them.
Fine...they don't get vaccinated, they sign a waiver that they don't take valuble medical resources when they get sick. I'm 100% on board with that.

But children don't get that choice, do they? Do adults get to make THAT decision for them? Are you saying that an adult can deny a child any life-saving treatment?
