...goes to 5-11 guard Joe Smoldt of Gladbrook- Reinbeck, Class 1A runner-up, who is going to Upper Iowa University. He was one of the top scorers in Iowa. Voted upon by the Iowa Newspaper Association, or by those members who drove to Des Moines to vote. Kinda shocked Connor McCaffery didn't win, but this often happens when a player is on a loaded team, where some votes get shared. Could still get Gatorade Player of the Year. Any comments? Jordan Bohannon won last year. I saw Smoldt play as a junior and he was quite impressive. Maybe now within a smidgen of 6 foot.

Clearly, the committee in charge of awarding the Mr. Basketball honor are Cyclone fans.

Furthermore, I wouldn't be surprised if many voting members on the committee are illegals, and if I were the McCafferys I would demand an FBI investigation. The system is totally unfair and totally rigged. The Fake News epidemic is why Connor lost. Oh, and it's also the fault of the generals. And Obama wire tapped the McCaffery's home phone too. So corrupt!

I've seen him play a good deal. Shooting stroke is unreal. He shot roughly 50% from the field and 3 with deep range. He's a very good offensive player. Brooks will love him at upper iowa. His defense isn't good and he doesn't have great handles but really surprised a larger school didn't find a spot for him. He could certainly play a niche role.
