Both were very winnable. Turnovers will be this teams undoing all year.

Second in line is three point shooting. Guyton needs to shoot more and Stuelke less from the arc. We also are forcing it inside too much. Against MSU, it was one more good shot or one less turnover. Hopefully they clean those things up just a little.

I think Kachine summed it up when she said Jan doesnt yet know what she's going to get from her players other then Lucy and Hannah.
Jan is also learning her way being the head coach and her assistants learning their roles.

This. The in game coaching thing is the one thing you had to question about the supposed "seemless transition". Anyone who thought it was going to be that easy was kidding themselves....

I believe that JJ needs to run some plays to place the best 3 point shooter in a position to do some damage. McCabe shoots almost 50 per cent. 10 shots equals 15 points needs to be utilized.

I think "seemless transition" is referring to basketball culture and overall philosophy and not in-game strategy

Well playing devils advocate, new roster, lots of moving parts, pretty good chance they would’ve lost two games with LB still coaching in which case our fans would’ve still called it a “coaching issue“🤷‍♂️

That’s why I don’t take it seriously. It may be a coaching issue, in fact it’s their job to win. With that said they don’t need our help ?

I hate to say this but HS chucking 3s in the 4th qtr is piss poor strategy. She belongs inside.
So I’m not sure that’s a strategy. She was open and she took it. once in awhile she’s going to need hit one just to keep defenses from playing 10 feet off her at the 3 point line. That’s also the challenge of playing her at the 4 vs the 5.

They are focusing on her being more on the perimeter this season and I'm just not a fan. Handles ball too much too. Way too many turnovers vs Tenn etc. I know they all did but she's not a ball handler.

I mean if she’s going to actually play the 4 and have a chance at playing in the W she’s going to need to broaden her game. It might not be pretty at times.

I agree she needs to take them, but it sldo mstters when. If I recall correctly she took it in the middle of a scoring drought, at a time when I would like to see them look to get someone a shot that they are cofident, efficient, and effective with. Then take the 3 when open. Clark had a habit of hitting big long 3s in the middle of the other teams runs and it would crush thier momentum.

That’s why it pays to look at the actual stats before hypothesizing. I’m not picking on you but you’re the fourth or fifth person that suggested Hanna didn’t handle the ball well… And yet I remember them using her to break the press multiple times because she’s fast big and the girl guarding her wasn’t as defensive minded as the ones guarding our playmakers….

And in reviewing the Stats….

HS…had 2 vs MSU & 4 VS Tenn = 6 total

Lucy had 11, Syd, 9 & Kylie 8.

Now again, I’m not trying to be an ass, but I’ve spent 20+ years on this board and routinely. I swear people watch different games.

Except of course in those games that we lost when everyone cried about Gabby Marshall playing & Lisa not working hard enough to replace Monica and why isn’t McCabe playing more.

But sure outside of that go, CC

I guess if your going to go directly off the stats, you have to include how many times each of those players handled the ball, against their TO's. All way to high obviously.....

Yes, with that said, I remember them dumping it to HS to bring it forward many times vs MSU and I don’t remember her getting trapped or throwing it away. She typically loses the ball in the lane when she’s spinning & going to the rack, right?

Which is also why I say her best position with the team is a 5.

They just aren’t going to play her there. I get your point but they & she is committed to play the 4 and the 5 situationally. Defensively they have proven they’ll play her down there but honestly. If they can’t fix their post entry issue it isn’t going to matter. I’d like to see the TO stats on post entries alone.

Well we already have in the Iowa St game. But clearly it’s not the main plan. But, I do think it playing her at the 4 also then makes it harder for the offense because the court is more compacted. Playing 4 out with 4 shooters plus a big makes it easier obviously to make that entry pass because you can’t sag as much. Nevertheless she is going to play the 4 and as I said with that there’s going to be growing pains.
