It looks to be pretty shitty out on the field .. I know a few posts have been made by me and a few others but this SUCKS! Not a great day for football and especially if they have to cancel do to lightening or something... and does MUSCO still do Iowa’s lighting? As they may need to come in if the skies get dark and the sun is setting earlier each and every day.. shit.. I hope it’s at least a playable field

The field has permanent lights now so that won’t be a problem. I assume they will delay it, like the last time there was lightning, until it clears. Finish up after that. Michigan state vs Penn state last year started at 11 and didn’t finish till same time as Iowa game due to weather.

Not worried at all. I fully expect it to be dry, low humidity and approximately 72 degrees all around my recliner at game time.

2:30 start looks good. Probably of rain jumps to 45% about the start of the 4th quarter.

Not worried, field is fine. Went to children’s hospital today to check it out, and looks just like new. The dirt that was in the corner of the North End Zone is all clear, they did a good job of cleaning it up. Was supposed to rain a lot Friday, but hardly did. Looks like rain could hold off from noon to 4:00ish. Regardless of the weather, I’ll be there, rain or shine. Let’s kick some a*s. Go Hawks!

I honestly don't think the weather will be much of a problem. Just my gut. That doesn't mean anything though, as everyone that knows me will attest. :)

1-2 inches of rain today. Not looking good. Plus lightning from the storms.

Just woke up to thunderstorms in Omaha, it appears that it’s done now and headed your way.

Any reason why they haven't opened up the parking lots yet....
I've run into that before. I think for some reason the people working think it's 7 and not 6. They do a piss-poor job of letting people the workers know it's 6 now.

Email from parking office yesterday said they were going to monitor the situation and if warranted, post signs at parking lot gate if closed. I am hoping they email again soon as well, so I can plan accordingly.

Unless it's a grass lot he is referring to why should it matter. Unless the lot is flooded. I guess they could be talking about fear of lightning.

Yes, the grass lot at 609 Melrose. Never closed before (except for the 8" snow before the Purdue game) This is the first time they said it could close due to rain. It was a muddy mess for Iowa State several years ago. It does have a low spot that could hold some water.

Also 1st Ave is reduced to two lanes. Miserable wait times driving yesterday going to Fryfest.

Hancher parking will be bad as well. Bridge on Park was not open at noon yesterday. But they plan to have it open Saturday. Lanes are also reduced to two on N Dubuque str by the bridge. I imagine traffic backed up to the interstate as the lanes merge together by the bridge.

It sounds like these lots are saturated and they don't want them rutted up with vehicle traffic plus grass will be slick and people will spin out and possibly get stuck jmo

Someone with more experience than I, given the weather, grass lots probably closed, and a late start time, when do you expect the cement lot NE of Finkbine (is that lot 65?) to be full?

Driving in from a Des Moines later this morning.

Take a look at radar right now very clear to the west lotta moisture tho. Things could pop back up.
