Iowa is well overdue to have a good showing in the conference tourney?

Yes, obviously, they are playing for their NCAA lives, but you would think after looking like monkey muffins in the BTT for how many years and counting, that a little competitive pride would kick in on that front, right?

Okay, yes, I know Iowa is underclassmen laden right now, and many haven't gone through the tournament egg laying as of late, but still, c'mon, something in the cosmos has got to bend Iowa's way, right?

Someone give me something.

Yes...but that doesn't mean it will happen. They seem due.

"The worm turning" doesn't win games, great play does. Iowa has to play great (most likely in multiple games) to do what we want them to do.

If Iowa plays better than the opponent(s), they will win. It's that simple. I am hopeful they will, but with this team's turns this year, I'm not sold it will happen - I've given up "assuming" with this team this year.

Agree. Just hoping Iowa can find a way to get past Game 1 against IU. Do that, and I think the team relaxes and kicks butt.

I think Peter likely remembers last year's opening game when he fouled out getting chippy with one of the Illini players (was it Hill?). I think Baer and Jok are both ready to bring the intensity a run will require, and the freshmen seem to have more urgency than the Gesell/Woody class did.

Gesell & co were good players, and probably near the top of what Iowa could land at that point, but they really struggled to close games out. I think Bohannon, Cook & Pemsl are going to have an edge to finish off teams when we've got a lead late. They've already seemed to do better (how many last shots of either half have we made compared to the last 4 years?).

BTT is very unpredictable. Just because you are playing well going in doesn't always translate into a good showing. Hawks have a lot of confidence, which can't hurt. We might need Pete to snap out of a late season funk to make a run. GO HAWKS!

I think Bohannon has some Brody Boyd in him.
The Freshmen seem to have no memory. They will be ready to play. I think they now realize what could happen if they keep on winning. Need solid D, inside out game and lots of IU t.o's.

Lol. Probably not, considering they were in diapers (or pedaling Big Wheels) when Brody Boyd was chucking up threes in the house Jordan built.

But I agree. My gut is telling me this team is so young and naive that they are just playing ball. I like Iowa's chances to do well.

I'd love a Luke Recker type ending to a few games this weekend! Were those buzzer beaters in back to back games?

You may, but my heart is saying eff that poop.

I'd rather not go into cardiac arrest this weekend. I'm too young for that.

This! I was watching that game at The Other Place in downtown Overland Park, KS. Place was elbow to elbow Iowa fans and it absolutely erupted when he hit that shot. THAT was a fun day!

I also watched that game at the Other Place in Overland Park. What a small world!

I watched the 3 vs. 14 game vs Northwestern State there as well, though. Haven't been back since. I also mowed the yard twice after this game in a desperate attempt to forget about it.

I had friends in town from Des Moines that day for St. Patrick's Day. We were watching at The Gran Falloon, a place I hated to begin with. I haven't been back there since either. What an awful day.

I just moved closer to downtown by the Grand Falloon. The one time I did go there I saw what looked like an ex-Iowa player of some sort with a shirt and hat on. Only reason I say he looked like an ex-player is because he was about 6'4" and huge. Didn't look familiar but was much older (I'm only 23). Is this a normal Hawk watch bar? If so I need to give it a shot.

You know, I'm honestly not sure if it is. I have lived here 21 years and never heard it come up among the Iowa people I know. I do know of a great spot in the City Market, I lived down there until about four years ago. It's called The Blue Line. Great bar, solid food and nice staff. Give that one a shot. My biggest complaint about the Falloon is the douche factor. I live very close to The Other Place, that's been my bar since my days at UNI in the early 90's. I can totally understand your not wanting to go back though.
