Is Brady Ellingson a Jr. or Sr. elegibility wise?

Are basketball scollies 4 year guarantees, with the 5th at the discretion of the the U?

It's possible BE grad transfers so he can start at a MM school. I wouldn't worry too much about it. I strongly doubt Iowa will go two years in a row with no transfers. That's exceedingly rare these days.

Kid from Kentucky has said he ok to walk on if no scholie available.

Thanks for the info folks. I plausibly see a transfer as well but hard to tell who. So lets say BE doesn't have a " pretty significant" season, do they suggest maybe he moves on...?

Brady needs to hit 2-3s per game to earn his PT.
the only player that made 2 3's per game was Uthoff as a RSSR,

Marble has a SR only made 52 3's in 32 games. what did Ellingson do piss your Cherrio's?

I would bet that Peter Jok averaged at least 2 threes a game just last season. Why the hate for Jok, herby?

Jok was a SR, ITS YOU that hate Ellingson, he led the team in 3 point % with a 47.1 % avg.

yes Jok avg'd 2 3's per game but he only shot 38% 4th best on the team.

Believe we are going to need a pretty significant year out of the redshirt Junior.

This is exactly right. I see BE as the first guard off the bench at both the 1-2 spot. Hit a couple of 3 balls per game, give us some solid (i.e. few turnovers) PG play to spell JBo, and play solid defense. Nothing spectacular, but solid contributions along those lines will be huge.

I was comparing Ellingson to other greats on the Iowa team Uthoff only made 66 3's his senior year.

another note on Jok he had 84 assist to 80 TO's, vs Ellingson had 37 assists to 11 TO's and 11 steals.

Not sure why the negativity toward Ellingson, who had a good year last year IMO and should be better this year. In 15 min/game, he shot 50% on 3s, 100% on FTs, had a 3:1 assist:TO ratio, and played decent position defense, although he (and JBo) has a hard time playing on-ball defense against elite B1G guards. Brady just needs to double his shots, which shouldn't be a problem with Pete gone, and keep on doing what he was doing to be a very valuable swing backcourt back up. He plays with a high BB IQ, but is just not as athletic as some of the guards he will face.

How many did you average per game in your career Jedn? As I recall you were more of a back to the basket guy. What is YOUR 3pt pedigree?

it really is to bad for a kid that does not do what these posters demand and it is to run them off. to bad really as most of them never played or coached the game of BB. but they feel they know more than the coaches.

So you compare to a guy that didn't play the guard position... Why can't you just support BE without putting down other fine Hawkeye players, particularly one who led Iowa and the B1G in scoring last year.

Really would you like to revise your statement. Just from last year alone we had 2 players.

Freshman Jordan Bohannon 89-214 from 3 last year. So doing the math 89 3s divided by 34 games played = 2.6 3s per game.

Senior Peter Jok 84 3s in 32 games = 2.62 3s per game.

He was only talking about other great Hawkeyes!

And he's on a roll, no stopping him now until he gets banned (again).

because you are to dumb to know what I am talking about.

but like I keep saying you and others want him run off if he does not meet your standards.

so why does Ellingson have to make 2-3 3's per game just so he can be allowed to return for his SR season?

Not to be a dick bc I like BE as a spot up 2 guy to help break some zone defense but I hope to god he isn't playing PG very much if any at all.

prepared to be pissed off then, as BE will be playing the backup PG ALOT.

Please tell me how you came about this info?

I am hopeful that CW has a bounce back year after a disappointing soph slump, the team will be much much better if he does. Also, when a quick guard was able to get into BE (the past two years) he looked awful/jittery with the ball in his hands. My guess is that won't change a whole lot from the last two years to this season, nominal improvement will happen but he just isn't all that quick (which isn't a shock to anyone...him included).

Also, CW is one of the better defenders so while some offense is given up with him in the game and the ball stuck in his hands all too often last year he does help the D end out tremendously over BE. I like BE but not as a guy that is making things happen with the ball in his hands so much but rather as a straight shooter.

I think we can all agree that PG is not the natural position for either BE or CW and neither should see significant time at PG or we're in trouble. It's a question of who can supply spot duty at PG to rest JBo.

On that point, we evidently disagree. I found BE far more stable with the ball in his hands than CW. CW scared the heck out of me anytime he was handling the ball.

I do think CW can contribute but as a 2-3 guy. BE's main contributions will of course be at the 2 as a spot up shooter as you point out in an earlier post. CW is a better on ball defender though.

CW has yet to show that he can run the offense. I also hope that changes, because his length does help on the defensive end and on the boards.
