Is Costco Really Worth It?

They have the cheapest hearing aides around. Top of the line, bluetooth controlled are under $1800, any other place is $5000+. I send all my patients to Costco for them.

Someday I may need them, unfortunately.
Sheepishly raising hand. I'll likely be checking them out this year since my flex card is loaded up again. Developed tinnitus in my left ear just this past year as well.

NOOICE!

Are their 9.0 version model something that is recommended?
My folks could DEFINITELY use bluetooth-enabled, and the TV set-top box that'd stream the sound directly to the hearing aids.
When my boyfriend went for his hearing aides (he lost his hearing at an Ozzy Osbourne concert in the 80s) they asked him all sorts of questions and then explained the difference between the models. He can change the background noise when needed and does use his phone with them. Some people would not be able to use their smart phone, or don't have one, and they would give them the lower priced versions. They are very helpful at the hearing center.

I have never had anyone complain about their hearing aides from Costco. They guarantee them and give you a loaner pair when they have to send them out for repair. Send your parents for a free hearing test and they can decide if it is right for them. Good luck!

BTW, you do have to have a membership to buy them.

We make our membership fee back on Dog food, Booze, and Chickens. No child yet but our friend group says Costco is a huge money saver for wipes/diapers etc.

Yeah, I don't think that's it...

Well, the last pair I bought at my optometrist's place scuffed a lens in <1 month.
They replaced those, but they were still scuffed up within 1 year - not horribly, but noticeably.

I've had this pair from Costco for a bit >2 years, and the lenses are pristine. Not a scuff on them.

Means you would need to spend $3,000 a year or $250 a month at that one store to make the upgrade worth it.

That's not really nothing.
they pay you 60 if you get the 120 membership.
If you can't save $60 on their other items, I don't know what to tell you. They have great warranties and no concerns returning things. I save $60 in a few purchases.

I save $10 a month alone on dog food (for Iams). so of the comps for the high end dog foods have an even bigger savings.

The toilet paper and paper towels are a good deal if you get the Costco Kirkland brand.

Totally not worth it to me...except for the meat. Costco beef and salmon are unparalleled for the price, and I eat a lot of it, so I'll have a Costco membership until I go vegetarian, which will be never. I basically pay $60 a year to access their steaks.

Other than that...hell forget whether it's worth $60 a year, for me it's not worth finding a parking spot, trying not to get run over in the parking lot and fighting the crowd. My Costco is like a Who concert on the weekend, and I'd gladly never step foot on the property again if it wasn't for the meat.

Do I occasionally find something on a good deal and pick it up? Sure. But no savings that are worth the regular trip, let alone $60/yr. I think their savings on staples like paper products and food are way overrated compared to my local Kroger and Aldi. There's always some brand of paper towels on sale at the grocery store. If I want to save money I'll buy from Aldi or store brand at Publix and Kroger and not have to replicate the experience of getting the last helicopter out of Saigon.

I splurged with some of my Trump money and bought some new Calphalon cookware today, then I went a little crazy with some foodstuffs. Kerrygold cheese and butter is always needed. Those crack like peanut butter filled pretzels. They had some delightful looking falafel, so I bought three containers.
CSB.

I spend probably $350-$450 a week at Costco. 3 hungry boys and alcoholic parents pretty much do that. I save $20 a fill up on gas there. I only use premium and have 2 huge gas guzzlers. We go through roughly 4 bottles of vino a week, and get pretty much everything else there including tires.

For some reason my cash back rewards are broken into two payments now which is weird, so I'll get one for around $850 in June and another one for $850 in January. Usually use them to get a high priced bottle of liquor that normally I would feel bad about or get an electronic item.

You can't beat their return policy either. Every year I get a couple of their Hawkeye folding chairs, after a full season of baseball tournaments those things are destroyed. So I take them back in the fall and get all my money back. Then in the spring I buy two new ones! rinse and repeat every year.

Any more info on these?
My folks might be interested - is this something to have them ask their hearing specialist about?

My Dad has gotten his hearing aids there and has been very pleased. Very good pricing and they will adjust/tune up as needed. I’d highly recommend.
