Is Filip Iowa's first Euro player?

Cool, thanks. Didn't Uhl grow up here? Could be wrong.

Getting senile, how could I forget Gabe Olesani. Josh's time in the UK was a pass through wasn't it? He grew up in Africa somewhere I thought. I was thinking Euro player but the Antonio Ramos recall might be worth a helmet sticker, that's a good catch from long ago.

In 1990 the Iowa staff brought over Dusan Stevic, a 6'10" small forward from Serbia and placed him at Kirkwood for a season. It was after the season had started so he would not have been eligible at Iowa. He never developed like they hoped so he ended up going elsewhere.

I wonder if ol' Dusan has a son who plays soccer now? ;)

You know when I say "I could be wrong, but I'm probably not"? Well, this is one of those rare occurrences where, against all statistical probability I was wrong, way off target. It's an aberration so don't get too used to my errors, however. They are few and far between. I'll get by batting average up over .975 tomorrow to be sure.

Interesting topic. I did a You Tube search on Rebraca after the announcement and there is an interesting video with UND assistant coach Daniel Mihaliovic talking about all the international players and their journey to Fargo. Theme was that Rebraca and a couple others essentially had no D-1 offers and were thrilled to come to Fargo.

I hope Rebraca has a successful 2 years at Iowa and gets the program on the radar of some other international players. Seems like these guys are willing to go anywhere for an opportunity and don't have as much drama as some U.S. kids with their Twitter personas and me, me, me attitudes.

Except that UND is in Grand Forks.
