Is IOWA a Top 4 team in the country, right now?

I think so. So does CBS Sports.

Man, first football, now men's basketball. And the wrestling team hopefully makes noise in March, too. What a year for iowa sports!

Well, it's hard to argue otherwise based on results... Do I believe we're top 5? Seems too good to be true, but I'm enjoying every game, that's for sure!

this is just like football. I am enjoying:

* all of the big wins
* the top 5 national rankings (at one time) for both football and basketball
* the national attention we are getting
* the potential impact on recruting

What a fun year for Iowa sports!

I think you could take the top 15 teams names and draw then randomly from a hat and get just about as good an order.
This is one of those years where there is little separation between teams in the top 15-20. Makes for a lot more exciting basketball.

This year I will take Iowa's seniors and junior over Kentucky's freshmen and sophomore.

Should be a great tourney this year.

wow, Iowa already played 7 games to the teams on the list (MSUx2, PU, ISU, ND, Wichita S, Dayton), and will play 2 more (PU, MD) before the end of Jan. While Indiana will only play 1, yes, 1 game (ND) at the end of Jan. Not saying they are not good, but I wouldn't put too much weight yet on they being at the top of Big10 in almost every statistic category.....

Iowa has a very experienced team which is a huge plus. The fact there aren't any dominant teams in college basketball this year means those top 5/10/25 ratings are largely interchangeable among a lot of teams. Right now, Iowa is playing good basketball and their current ranking reflects that. I don't think any team will go undefeated in conference play so it will be interesting to see how Iowa responds to a loss. I think this team is mature enough to keep it going and not go into a major skid like we saw a couple seasons ago. Time will tell.

I think we have played our way into the Top 10 for sure. Top 5 may be pushing it a little.

The biggest difference I see in this year's team is the ability to hit big shots at the right time. In past seasons it seems every game there was a stretch in the 2nd half where Iowa would go scoreless for 6-8 minutes and have to hang on by fingernails to get the win. This year, we have so many shooters and playmakers, it hasn't come down to that. Aside from the ISU game when we completely lost our shlt, that is. I think that is what puts us in the top 5. There isn't a team in the country we can't beat and the list of teams that scare me keeps shrinking.

Yes. The problem is that about a dozen other teams are as well. They all need to chill out and back off!!!! This is our year.

No doubt about it. Iowa can score on anybody, can defend anybody, and our coach can coach w/ the best of them. We have 3-4 guys on the bench who've given us valuable minutes, both scoring and defending. And we have 4 seniors and a junior starting. This is our time. I hope our boys seize it.

As I said in the game thread, there is probably another team out there who is better than Iowa, I just don't know who they are.

I think Oklahoma and North Carolina are the 2 best teams in the country(not by much). I also think Iowa definitely is a top 4 team right now. 7-0 in a very tough conference that was front loaded. If Iowa takes down Maryland on the road I think they slip in with NC and Oklahoma, as the nations elite.

Right now, absolutely. I think that Iowa has proven their worth against an extremely difficult schedule as pointed out already. 3 of those wins are on the road/neutral court.

Not only are the Hawks winning, they are winning by double digits. Need to just keep playing with max effort and things will keep working out.

Iowa's the best team in the country. Nearly 1/3 of our wins are vs teams currently in the AP top 25. Oklahoma, North Carolina, TAMU, and Kansas don't come close to that resume other than they have lost at most 1 fewer time. 2 monster road wins for us to boot.

The media will rank us #1 if we get through next week undefeated.

Love the Iowa team, but UNC has to lose to give up #1. I'm just fine hanging out at #3 and staying in DSM in March.

I don't think maturity was the problem two years ago.

They couldn't shoot.

I reserve judgment here until Maryland is over.

Beat the turtle soups there, and I would have to say yes. At Maryland is the type of game #1 seeds and B10 champions win.

Right now today...top 8 for certain.
