Is Iowa Ranked Tomorrow?

Can see the DMRag and Ames daily with front page headlines if isu is ranked in Top 25.

Two losses, to PSU, # 4 by 4 at home on last play of game and by 7 @ # 22 MSU that Iowa had several chances in the second half. Iowa gets no love from pollsters.

Had the Hawks beaten Penn State, yeah they'd be ranked. Not 4-2 with no quality wins (was ISU a quality win? Time will tell).
I think that ISU beating a top 5 team says that ISU was a quality win for Iowa and being 4-2 just reinforces that.

also ISU was getting votes in both polls expect them to get more this weekend, a 45-0 shutout win is what impresses the voters.

If you have to depend on second hand SOS... like ISU beating somebody... you're not a top 25 team.

Just win.

Wow, you must really love the preseason polls then, as that line of thinking would put a ton of stock in them.

How is the teams you play performance as the season progresses not relevant?

Quit being a kaleidoscope of mope. With all these Top 25 teams faltering, I think we make a surprising backdoor entry at #24 tomorrow.

Name the teams that drop out of the top 25.

Iowa will not be ranked, they'll be lucky to receive 12 votes. The good news, I've never heard of a team that got better because they were ranked. Besides Iowa isn't going to the playoff. Who cares what they're ranked before the season ends?

The Recruits, dummy.

Really? You think top 25 ranking make or break a recruits decision? Who wants fair weather players on the team. How about instead we recruit players who wish to improve themselves, believe the team despite outside opinion, and want to get an education from the school.

Besides, I said before the seasons end rankings. Most recruits Iowa’s after now will see the final standings before signing on the dotted line. But what do I know, I’m just a short sighted dummy...

Iowa didn't get any votes in the Top 25 last week so with a bye don't expect them to make an appearance this week. ISU will move up some though as 11 teams that got more votes than ISU last week lost this week including 24 & 25 plus 4 of the 6 teams above them that got votes. The #2-5-8-10 & 19th place teams also lost.

I think Wazzu and Auburn fall all the way out. Those were bad losses. Wouldn’t be surprised if Clemson and UW drop to around the high teens/low 20s. The book is now out on how to beat them.

The more I think about it, I think our boys enter firmly at #19, making us feel very good.

Iowa has 3 wins against teams with a winning record, which I believe is tied for the best in the Big 10. With an impressive bye week, maybe some voters will finally see the light.

Coaches poll is out and it is dead accurate, fooled them once fake id, the coaches aren't going to be fooled again. Thoughts?

No, the problem is now too many voters vote predicting how teams will finish the season, not according to how they have actually played so far. So conference favorites like those two won't drop that far as the voters expect them to bounce back and win the rest of their games.

Well no crap, we would be 6-1 with only loss to top 20 MSU team. Even at 4-2 we will and should get some votes. Other than Illinois we have not played a team with fewer than 4 wins (Wyoming, N. Texas and ISU all 4-2) 7 point loss on the road to 6-1 MSU and a last second defeat by a top 2 team.....SOS looking really good right now and I know their are no moral victories, but even in our losses we had a legit chance to win both games we lost- I mean at least our players play hard for our staff, fans and university.....our rivals out west can't say the same.
This team has been better than I thought they would be at this point in the year and is very very young, really reminds me of 2008 team with more of an upside IMO. Really excited for this football team now and in the future

I share your optimism. I also think we could lose to any of our remaining opponents, including Purdue and Nebraska. I think 4-2 is probable the rest of the way.

4-2 is what I expected at this point.
Pretty meh so far.
We'll see what they can do at the mildcats against fat pat's crew next week.

yeah I can tell beating 3 teams with 4-2 records and losing to a top 4 team and a top 20 team is definitely pretty meho_O:confused: oh lets not forget that a team that Iowa beat is getting votes. yeah a real cream puff schedule.

This is a solid schedule. Only gimmes are Wyoming and N Texas. Coaching is improved in the B1G. And our schedule includes the two best teams in the league

No team in one week is going to jump from no or 2 votes depending on which poll you are looking at to #19 on a bye week or even after a big win for that matter.

And if not, it’s because of perception.

For example, LSU is back in, with a loss to Troy, and a blow out loss to unranked Miss St. 37-7. Should have lost to FL as well, got lucky to come out with a 17-16 win. All perception right there.

We coulda/shoulda/woulda have beat #2 and #18, our only losses, but coaches and sports writers don’t watch all the games of course, just box scores. Winning at #28 on the road is a decent win as well.

The Massey computer compilation of 64 computer rankings pulled together has Iowa at #22, which seems about right.
