Having two teams tie for the B1G title - does this level of parity help the sport? Obviously, wish we could have dominated the field (hopefully we will in STL), but tOSU getting a B1G title has to help with fans of the sport around Columbus, especially when they were hosting the tournament. Or, is it better for the sport to have a dominate team?

Probably good for the sport, but maybe not good enough to overcome what a lousy "product" was presented. Per Andy Hamilton, 19 matches were won by wrestlers who scored 2 or fewer points.

Gee - maybe we ought to have a ball grab when a match ends 1-1 (Kwood - please insert something indicating sarcasm for me.)

GG - I don't recall how many times I noticed all the matches occurring at a particular time went to the second period tied at goose eggs. One of the few matches that had hard fought action in the first period that resulted in no score was the Clark- Dardanes semi final. Most of them are boring to watch though. I hope something changes quickly or I will be giving more time to other hobbies (like my family).

Overall I had a good time at B1Gs, but more because of the experience and not getting the opportunity to attend live events very often.

More fans and wrestling leaders are calling for something to be done. Remember the Olympics? Don't take anything for granted.

Good post AF. Remember Tsirtis, Bo Jordan, and Kyle Synder combined for zero takedowns in the finals - and these guys are at the top of the class. It's systemic and it needs to be fixed now. IT'S NOT JUST IOWA.

As an Iowa fan, the tie sucks. But as a college wrestling fan...I would say it is neutral at worst and probably a good thing.

But man oh man, there was A LOT of boring matches! It won't matter in a few years if we tied, won or lost this year if we do not fix the problem of excruciatingly boring matches brought on by primarily by an overly defensive, risk averse style of wrestling.

I completely agree. I know they are trying to get the rules figured out to make it more exciting but it definitely needs more tweaking. It seems like the only time you see first period scores are when there is a huge mismatch in talent or it is an incredibly dynamic offensive wrestler like Martinez of Illinois. Somehow there has to be a way to get guys to want to create action (make creating action rewarding) and eliminate guys from being able to skate like Tomasello did after he got the lead on Gilman in the finals.
