Wrestler on the team? I know Gilman is the Hawks only #1 and most likely to win a title this year, but I find myself really appreciating Kemmerer's approach. As a freshman he has a lot to learn as proven with the defensive td for Short today, but he will improve as he grows up. He will find more ways to score than attacking mainly the left leg as he progresses. He is a breath of fresh air especially in the first period. No doubt he leads the team in average time to score a td in the first period. He is also an outstanding scrambler. Hope to see him extend the gap against Berger and close it against Nolf.

Idk about the best but he is my favorite wrestler to watch on the team. Only thing I see that he really needs to work on is not being over aggressive when guys don't want to wrestle him and push the pace. But for a freshman he is darn good and has a lot of potential.

Gilman, Sorensen and Clark are better wrestlers right this moment. Sammy, too. Gotta remember 157 is also a pretty weak weight class.

That's my opinion. However, Kemerer is only a freshman, I think he'll be better by the time he graduates than any of them.

Pound for pound, I'd say:

1. Gilman
2. Healthy Clark
3. Sorensen
4. Kemdawg

Still extremely impressive for a freshman. True, 157 isn't a killer weight class, but still, to be something like 22-1 and ranked #2 in the nation as a D1 REDSHIRT freshman is still mighty impressive. And he's racking up the bonus points. Just majored an experienced, strong #9-ranked guy. And the guys listed ahead of him are all basically #1, #2, and #2. I realize Clark and Sorensen are no longer ranked #2, but Sorensen is the #2 guy at 149 and Clark is probably #2 due to injury but #1 if healthy. So Kemdawg is behind some pretty impressive company there.

Definitely a breath of fresh air. His incredibly long arms are a huge asset, and he uses them. Pay attention to how long that dude's arms are some time. They're like tentacles on an octopus! Love the way he snatches that leg and sucks it in. He does get himself over-extended quite a bit, but he still finishes those shots about 80% of the time. Reminds me a little of Mark Perry in that way.

Super kid, great sportsman, great smile, all about aggression. . . nothing not to like. Good on ya, Michael Kemerer! Really glad he's a Hawk.

These last few meets are swaying me Kemdawgs way. It has always been Gman and a healthy Clark, but Clark is definitely not healthy as we saw that last td today. He could not extend his arm to dispute the td. Sad to see. Sorenson definitely has the talent, but doesn't always have that dominating attitude that Kemdawg and Gilman possess every time out.

Brooks? Can't say I agree. I also put an injured Clark behind him.

I understand. I think Brooks toolset is great, he just underutilizes it. I recognize I may be the minority opinion here in that ranking.

I reealize going round and round in circles can affect balance and memory. But not sure how dancing made you miss all last year.

Kemdawg is a RSF, not a true frosh.

Love the emoji, but I never said he was a true freshman, unless I did and missed it somewhere. By "freshman", I meant "redshirt freshman". Still a freshman. (insert three dancing emojis with a monkey emoji, five unicorn emojis and four Super Bowl emojis, all twirling in circles)

"and ranked #2 in the nation as a D1 true freshman is still mighty impressive".........sound familiar?

Now that that is settled.....which account of yours shall we remove some "likes" from for this transgression?

And McD too...That's where McD's injury hurt him quite a bit...being able to pull them in.

Always fun to watch a good scrambler. Be interesting to see if he widens the gap w Berger / smith etc..

I meant he was a "true redshirt freshman" -- a redshirt freshman in the truest sense of the word.

Either that, or I had a massive brain fart and proofread poorly.:);):(:cool::p:D:eek::oops::rolleyes:o_O

Technically, if you look at eligibility, there is no difference between a true freshman (shirt pulled) and a redshirt freshman (redshirted then wrestled); both used one year of eligibility and have three remaining. Although it could be argued that in most cases they differ in maturity, strength, and have had a year of college wrestling under their belt, I don't think we need to ostracize WWDMHawkeye for his minor mix up. (WWDMHawkeye, you better learn from your mistake as next time we will have to pillage the village) Regardless if Kem is a true freshman, redshirt freshman, or fifth year senior, what he is doing is impressive.

I actually prefer guys who push the pace against guys who don't want to wrestle. The more you do it the better you get at stopping "counter wrestlers." If you don't push the pace you're playing into their hands -- which is to minimize scoring in the hopes of stealing the match with a single TD. Counter wrestlers will win a lot of 2-1 matches against superior opponents. But they don't beat many superior opponents in matches where 15 or 20 points are scored.

Love everything about the way he's wrestling right now. He might get burned a couple of times during the season. He might even get burned come NCAA's his Frosh year. But the more he keeps wrestling aggressively the better he'll get at avoiding the burns.

False

Other than the fact that one wrestler is theoretically a year older, and that wrestler has no more redshirts available should they become injured in the future, I guess they're there' the same. IE: other than the differences there is no difference!

sure they may be eligible for one more year of school, but that doesn't change the duration of their wrestling eligibility. How is anything I said false?

reminds me of Mark Ironsides redshirt freshman year...I've known Mark and his family since he was a kid....similar deal they both were regarded as talented but just keep over achieving....beating people theyre not supposed to...Kemerer will knock Nolf off before he's done

4 years to wrestle 3 isn't the same as 3 years to wrestle 3.

time wise, no. competition wise, yes.

If you read my post carefully, you will see I only commented on eligibility. I never said anything in regards to how long they have left to complete their eligibility, I only said that like a redshirt freshman they have three more years of eligibility remaining. Kem could go join the military and come back and compete ten years from now if he wanted.
