83%Was this a plan this off season? Ideally, I would like to him to get both repaired.
I imagine he didn’t because the surgery has about a one year recovery time, so he’d miss the season if he had the surgery in say April. One would assume that he consulted with lots of folks that are smarter than me.
That’s only if it’s the first time you have had ACL surgery. Second time on the same one takes longer. That's an outdated timeline. Modern technology and rehab methods have knocked that down several months. It always depends on the athlete, extent of their injury, rehab pitfalls, etc. but think more in terms of 9 months these days.
Well, I’m not sure he got the OK from this board to have that surgery… So it never happened.A clarification inquiry. His first surgery was after the finals loss to DeSanto in March? If yes, he wrestled at the Midlands and the rest of the year. If Lee is wrestling this year and opted for surgery, the surgery would be done?
I think he's waiting for a consensus recommendation from the Cesspool. Can't go wrong with that, an approved approach by the AMA. Either that or he's an anti-surgicalfixxer worried that Carl is in cahoots with the doctors and feared they were going to implant a secret exploding chip in his knee.I think “they” may have figured out how to proceed!
All aboard on starting the statue making process for Spencer. The kid has always done what’s best for the team even at the expense of his own future best interests. No doubt in my mind he’ll do it again because this is Iowa’s last year to win it all while he’s there. If all nine guys would be back in two years I think he’d get the surgery. He’s a warrior, he’s crazy, and to a lot of younger people he IS Iowa wrestling.
They need to start on that statue. The pirates made a bust of willie stargell’s hands. It’d be funny if Spencer’s bust was his knees with two braces on lol.
I think we see the Lee this year that we saw last year during the season prior to his injury at the Big 10's. Remember, he had a similar injury in a similar timeline and came back and had a Hodge winning season. I think he will be okay. That's still 9 months of recovery, with little to no serious training. That's an awfully small window to try and get semi healthy and compete on one good leg and zero stamina. Most docs will not do both ACL's simultaneously, and I'm guessing in Lee's case, that would certainly take him out for much longer.
Since his Olympic run this year is dead in the water I'm guessing his focus is 100% on the team and snagging another team and individual title.
They're going to concentrate on strengthening and stabilizing his legs, learning to wrestle with these limitations and doing what he needs to avoid the compromising positions, even if that means giving up points.
2 legs for Lee at 60% with a full training is better than one at 90%, the other dead weight, and next to nothing for training entering the season.
Have to remember that if he repairs one, that likely means he can't do much strength training on the other until he's cleared to. That's time he probably doesn't think he has.
We may see a slower, but much more methodical and strategical Lee this season. He's always been a tactful and smart wrestler, but with the proper mindset, this could make him even better... Even after he's fully healthy and repaired!
Then we agree.I think we see the Lee this year that we saw last year during the season prior to his injury at the Big 10's. Remember, he had a similar injury in a similar timeline and came back and had a Hodge winning season. I think he will be okay.
I think they should take out the old ACLs and dip them in bronze AS the statue. Will Spencer Lee's statue at the new facility have ACL's?
Good idea. Maybe they’ll make us a statue or something.I think we should all get drunk tonight and remove our ACL’s to show support.
