Is the record chase draining Luka?

Sometimes guys chasing all time records go through a rough patch as they close in on the record. Thoughts if this is happening to Luka as he seems to be struggling lately. This is more mental then physical. The good news is that he'll be past this n time to finish the season and be ready to tear it up in the tourney.....

He looks a little tired to me. He short armed a number of shots in the last 2 games. We didn't need much from him today which is good because he was getting beat up. I don't think it's the record pursuit but it probably contributes. A game like today where he doesn't think he has to do it by himself will do wonders.

it’s become pretty obvious the last few games the mugging down low is taking its toll. Not surprising it’s become tougher for him . He’s pretty much got the bullseye on his back every single time out. Solution to said problem is what we saw today, make em pay for doubling down and knock down the trey

I think it’s awesome that he’s averaging 16 ppg during a slump. A slump at 16 ppg!! He really is a once in a lifetime player.

I didn't consider this but you may very well be on to something. That's a hugely significant achievement. Between that and NPOY that's a lot of pressure and expectations weighing down on him right now. Hopefully after he breaks it he'll be back to his old dominating self. It's more plausible than JW sucking out all of his mojo anyway. 😃

Luka has been in a rough patch for a few games, and today was the worst in a really long time. Makes the Hawks win even more impressive. Luka will be back.

This! And it seems game officials are not calling all the fouls committed against him like they once did.
At no point have they ever or will ever call all the fouls committed on him, and its never slowed him down before. I would agree that this rush of games in two weeks has probably been especially hard on him...

The record itself is not what is causing Luka to struggle........

And remember that Luka has been double and triple-teamed while playing FIVE games in ELEVEN days. That's brutal!

I like that they didn’t need much from him today (he still got 8 boards and he still worked his tail off). I like that he got some extra rest. I like that they don’t play again until Thursday, then Sunday, then a week off (unless Nebraska goes in that slot). A chance to rest a bit and re-focus.

Looks tired. Short on shots and barely jumps anymore on his post moves. Reminds me of Uthoff’s fade.

Though he does look tired and is taking a beating he will turn the corner. He is too good a shooter not to. In my opinion I think he has narrowed his offensive game- forcing the drive and has stopped using his mid range face up game and has become more predictable with the ball.
Yes to this.

We aren't running easy pass outs for him. We know they are going to double....why isn't wieskamp or jbo moving into position to catch and shoot from an easy passing angle. Those corner threes that work against us? Yeah that is gameplanned because they know that is a weak spot on our defense

He a marked man by the other team. They throw bodies at him,he takes a physical beating every game.
Exactly my thoughts also.
Seems he gets hit in the face every game or every other game.
My biggest complaint is that basketball has evolved from a no contact sport to a full contact sport

No doubt but Luka doesn't exactly shy away.from playing physical

These last 6 or 5 games have been a real grind, 2 to 3 bigs on Garza for the whole time, two days rest tops between games, I am betting that by the game day against Wisky he will be rested. But even yesterday he seemed real sharp passing to the open shooter, avoiding the triple team turnover. I know the scoring was down, but his defense, rebounds, blocks and assists where key down the stretch. He will climb out of it. I am betting his final stretch will be awesome.
