Back in November, Donald Trump easily won Iowa’s six electoral votes by 13 percentage points. It was a beautiful landslide victory, maybe the greatest victory in Iowa History. I don’t know, but that’s what they’re saying.
It was the third time Trump won Iowa easily.
After President Trump took office, the winning continued. So much so that Iowans may be getting tired of all the winning. He’s doing what he promised to do, we’ve been told by top Iowa Republicans.
“I’m proud to be working alongside President Trump to deliver on the agenda Iowans & Americans voted for in November,“ U.S. Rep. Ashley Hinson said in a post on X. ”And I’ll continue traveling to every corner of our district to connect with Iowans about our commonsense work to save our country.“
“I think God saved President Trump’s life in Butler, Pennsylvania, for a reason. God saved the president, and the president is saving our country,“ Hinson said in another post recounting a statement she made at a town hall.
This is what Iowans want. Heck, this is what God wants.
So, apparently, many Iowans can’t stand public libraries and museums. They’re facing potentially crippling cuts in federal funding. So is the AmeriCorps National Citizen Community Corps, which has sent home hundreds of volunteers in Iowa who would respond to natural disasters. Maybe volunteering is for suckers and losers.
Iowans, I hear, are glad to see the president enact tariffs.
According to a story this past week in the New York Times, “The 145 percent tariff that President Trump imposed on Chinese imports in April was met with a retaliatory 125 percent tax on U.S. goods going into China. In practice, that means a hefty tax on Midwestern crops.”
At least that was the plan. Check in often for updates.
Tariff’s could blow up China’s massive soybean market. Farmers will plant a lot more corn and use a lot of fertilizer to boost yields and squeeze out profits. We know it’s bad for the environment, particularly water quality. Trump’s EPA also is set to allow the destruction of Iowa wetlands.
I gather farmers are sure Trump will save them again. When Trump’s tariffs harmed agriculture during his first term, he sent out $23 billion in bailouts.
I guess most Iowa voters want the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the National Weather Service to lose funding and thousands of workers. They also want to get rid of FEMA. Federal officials will still offer thoughts and prayers.
Iowans, apparently, support less medical research due to cuts in federal agencies and grants to state universities. That’s weird, considering we live in a state with a high and growing cancer rate.
So, you’ve got cancer? Ever hear about the wondrous healing power of Ivermectin?
Trump voters must also want to cut the Department of Veterans Affairs’s workforce and foreign aid that keeps people from starving. Let them eat cake, but not American cake.
And while we’re at it, let’s kick 900 Afghan refugees out of Iowa after they fled the Taliban’s murderous rule. Some of them helped our military and will face punishment, perhaps death, if they return to Afghanistan. Iowa used to welcome immigrants. Not anymore.
We broke the news via email, according to Axios.
“I’s time for you to leave the United States,” the email said.
“Do not attempt to remain in the United States — the federal government will find you.”
Let’s send deportees to prison in El Salvador or some other sunny locale, even if they’re in the United States legally. Even if they are American citizens. Due process will just slow us down. We’ll send masked agents to scoop them off the street and into an SUV. It’s great TV.
The lantern at liberty’s golden door has been replaced by gaslighting.
I’ve heard staunch Iowa Trump supporters won’t go all squishy and worry about the human cost of these policies. They’ll think instead about the big, beautiful tax cut we’ll be getting. A bunch of Iowans will lose Medicaid health coverage to help afford it.
That’s just the cost of doing business. Imagine how efficient our government will become.
Victories have come so fast and furiously it’s hard to keep track. I’m sure there are wins I’ve forgotten. Chaos is part of the fun.
This, again, is what he promised. Still, each win is like a little wrapped present with a surprise inside. Like, “You’re fired.”
The picture changes by the hour and judges have stepped in to block a lot of these moves. Our government is now a box of chocolates. Enjoy!
But is this really what Iowans voted for? Again, that’s what I’ve been told.
It’s difficult to believe. Heartbreaking, even, But the votes don’t lie.
