ISU Press Conference: Opening Statements from DSJ, Zadick, and Metcalf

I just hope as soon a as a coaching position opens at Iowa that Metcalf comes running for the Black and Gold. I personally think he will. Tom Brands didn't start at Iowa, neither did Terry. Heck - Morningstar started at Wisconsin. Just because Metcalf is starting at ISU, that doesn't mean he will end there.

I suspect this will happen too, but I think it depends on the amount of success they have at ISU.

Boy the elephant in the room was not the beard but did any of them especially Metcalf talk to Brands about the ISU job. That is the real elephant. Metcalf was the Brands' main protege and I know if I left my law firm where I had been for a long time I would talk to my mentor. I would guess he would say anything said is private but weird how that was not even asked.

I'm still a little bitter about losing Mike Zadick. Loved the way that guy competed ... talk about a fun, offensive Hawk to watch. He would absolutely throw the kitchen sink at you. From the presser, it sounds like Dresser is giving him a ton of responsibility and I'm hearing a sizable payday to boot; really glad to see that.

"Winners focus on winning. Losers focus on winners!"

I'm sick and tired of this board worrying more about Iowa St, PSU, Okie St , OSU, etc...

We have something damn special happening in Iowa City with the recruits and the talent that's already in the room. Next year, I believe we'll have 5 AAs and the following year we'll be competing for a national title. This board is less Iowa Hawkeyes and more overall college wrestling. If I could have one wish for HAWKEYE wrestling is we open up the check book and make David Taylor an offer he can't refuse to be an assistant coach.

We need to get used to it, not that it will be easy, no doubt. And guess what, when Dresser and crew turn around ISU, and they will, some or all of these guys of these will be moving on to take top asst jobs or even head jobs elsewhere. It's going to happen, count on it

Edit: I should have said, "maybe they will be heading back to Iowa". That is a distinct possibility, without a doubt!!!

Uh, we didn't lose him.

Metcalf will be our next Head Coach.

Uh, so he never left? That was one helluva trip I've been on the last 6 years.
He was in an interim position for a year and per U of I policy, the position was then posted. M* was hired instead of Zadick. Zadick did not choose to "leave" he just wasn't offered he position. Maybe just semantics for some but not for others.
