That's one of those movie lines that makes me laugh everytime i watch the movie
80 in Lansing, IA with a 70% chance of rain this afternoon. It's been damn wet in NE IA, SE WI, SW MN this year, a lot like OP's Mom.
Going to be super hot here next week too.

I'm taking care of a wife and 3 kids (2 of whom have disabilities) on one income. I have to be way more careful with my spending than that.
That's something I would sure love to do but how many 90 degree plus days do we typically see in the summer? Like 20 to 30 at most? And even on those days how long is the AC not able to keep up? Like 6 to 8 hours where the temp is about 5 degrees over what we would prefer?
Can't lay down thousands just to make 240 hours of the year slightly more comfortable.
I’ll be up in NE iowa golfing on Friday. Weather looks perfect. Sunny and a high of 80.
