The Hawkeyes had a play or two featuring T Smith, J Smith, and Parker all running deep. Two on crossing patterns and one on a double move, for example. Having all three speedsters going at once, with one going against an LB, could be fun.

That would be really, really, interesting. LMAO! I sent GD an email regarding this so we may see this on Saturday! LMAO! Oh, GD emailed me back. He wants to know where the 3 of them are lined up? Which ones should be running crossing routes and from what sides of the field and at what depth? Which one should be running a 'double move' and what 'double move' should he run. LMAO! You are fcking hilarious! You always make me laugh. I'm glad you are too stupid to stop posting, or this site would get really boring in hurry! Keep up the good work....

Please explain to me in detail why his idea is so damn funny? Is this not a football board where we can, you know, talk about football? If you a such a football savant please take a minute and tell us why his idea has no merit.

The OP wasn't funny, nor was the Prophet reply.

Once again, the OP is posting his usual back-handed slaps at the coaches by implying that he's smarter than the staff at utilizing talent on the field. I'm stunned there isn't a play diagram to prove his wisdom.

Quite honestly, THAT is the funniest part of this thread. Prophet was just being Prophet, can't help himself.

"so we aren't allowed to criticize? blah blah blah, a blind man can see it, blah blah blah".

Wow. This thread got ugly in a hurry!

It's interesting - the football team is doing so well there is almost nothing to bitch about. So, venom is used on the national media, the SID and Marketing, putting a logo on the field and the water tower, and on other posters.

Oh, that's right! This is the internet!

Never mind.

I don't see anything wrong with the OPs post. I agree that we need to get both Smiths on the field at the same time. Would the OL be able to give CJ enough time for his receivers to get deep on the OPs hypothetical play?

So, what you guys are saying is the coaches, whose job is to conjur up plays based upon judging and implementing the talent on the roster to the best of their abilities - haven't entertained from all the hundreds of hours of practice time through the years a way to utilize all the players at the positions in a fashion to where they haven't once considered using a combination such as this.

That's what you're telling me.

Does iowas offense really even incorporate crossing routes? Seems like no. I have always wondered why they don't use various crossing/ pseudo-pick plays

They do use crossing routes. A lot more last year than this if my memory is good.

It could be a case where they are not something that CJ is very good at...but Rudock was - as to why we don't see many of them nowadays.

I think we can all agree CJ is better at longer routes than shorter routes...he seems to cannonball shorter passes (Wisconsin game comes to mind) and not really have a touch for them compared to going more verticle and down the field.

Certainly prefer stretching the field. And yes he excels at that.

Interesting idea. It makes sense to include at least a couple of plays featuring our speed guys.

My main concern, though, is our pass protection. Maryland has a couple of good pass rushers, and is among the leaders in the B1G for sacks. I don't want CJ hurt more than he already is.

Fans discussing personnel and play calling is not a new phenomenon.

Sorry it's necessary to point this out, but there is nothing the quitter QB who's now out east can do with a football that the undefeated Iowa QB can't do far better. I really wish the quitter QB's mom would stop posting on here.

As for the vicious nature of some of these posts, well, I hope your therapists are well armed.

And as some will recall, GD whined about the need for speed since the moment he was hired. Yet the speed Iowa does have is seldom used. To my small brain, that seems illogical and unproductive.

And so that's why I said it might be interesting if Iowa did, in fact, put its three top speed receivers on the field at the same time...and might as well make it four with Duzey at TE...and see how that would work. Not every play, but a few times a game. Iowa has some speed, so why isn't it being used as a deep threat more often? That is all.

My thinking is...CJ doesn't really put a lot of air under his throws. I believe the reason why we see a lot of sideline patterns and fly routes is for one he rockets passes in there no matter the length of pass, and two since he's like this INT's are more of an issue.

Those patterns have a lot less chance of turnovers...so we see what we see.

You're assuming that all Iowa has to do is plug those guys on the field, call the play and voila...instant success.

It never, ever works solely that way.

If you have to resort to the level of the above post, all it shows is you aren't really good at understanding the simple fact that the coaches know a helluva lot more about the players on the team...what they are capable of, what they are capable of learning. You are too stuck in the simplistic conept that because you believe something will work, you are correct.

I don't suffer from this because I know I am not smarter than the coaches. I just call out people who think they are. Like you.

#NewKirk is saving that for the national championship game

Funny that you brought your brain up. I just so happen to run across pictures of your tiny brain. I hope you don't mind me sharing them with our readers?

Wow, WTF are you talking about?

You're outrage at something so utterly harmless and mundane is quite odd.

I would maybe step away from the message board thing for a while If I were you.

I gotta say, this message board has really gone down hill the last couple of weeks with the Bandwagon folks jumping back on. Some people can never be happy and simply want to spread their cancer to the rest of us.

I emailed GD that we should run a flea flicker or two. He didn't email me back but I think he's considering it.
