It's Amy Coney Barrett

25 years or so ago, Conservative Evangelicals would have freaked out over a CATHOLIC Cult member being appointed to the supreme court.

Then and now they will claim that GOD is leading them in their conclusions.

8 working days, the FBI and the Senate will have to,

  • FBI conducts background check
  • Senate conducts own background check
  • Obtain and read over 100 7th District opinions written by her
  • Plan strategy and line of questioning for hearings
  • Setup hearings
  • Hold hearings
  • Allot time for Senators to decide
  • Schedule vote
  • Hold vote

In 8 working days, they will actually do the following

  • Conduct committee hearing with no questions allowed
  • Schedule vote
  • Hold vote

Oh, that doesn't matter. Pro-family, God-fearing, corporatists, and Christians are held to a different standard.

The pro-family and god-fearing portions will work against each other. As anti-choice will create a good deal more single parent families.

We should also probably stop the constitutionalist charade. It is just an exercise in virtue signalling and dishonesty.

There are, without a doubt, certain types of Christians (and other religious factions) that deserve extra scrutiny.

Nah, let them appoint her. Then pack the court. She can have fun voting in the minority after Biden wins and the Dems take the Senate.

I get that.

I don't understand the objectives of Republicans anymore. I understand what the constituent think they want, but they move to support the movement against themselves. These are interesting times.

So we should kill the unborn children rather than have a single parent family ? I dont think you are fit to decide who lives and dies.

The constitution is not a charade. We dont have a country without it.

Christians dont deserve more scrutiny unless you are a bigot.

uNBoRn CHildREn!!!

Perhaps, my statement was too nuanced for you on the constitution. No shock, to be honest. I was essentially saying your people don't care about it, you use it as a false shield.

What if she was part of Westboro. Does that deserve more scrutiny? How about part of the Islamic State? The Southern Baptist branches that get bit by venomous snakes? People that go into seizures for the Lord?

I'm sure the Vatican approves. The irony is way back when, the 80's, wasps hated catholics. Now they are conservative bum chums.

the objectives of Republicans is to stick it to the Democrats/Libs.. That is their entire movement. They used to pretend to be conservatives, but they have shown that really isn't the case. Really it is the fault of the intellectuals on the right. They use to think they could keep the morons pinned in, use them for votes and advance their own conservative economic beliefs while paying lip service to the social screwballs.. they were wrong, the morons took over the party and the intellectuals have mostly fled. Economic conservatism doesn't really exist in the GOP, outside of "LOWER TAXES!!!!" as a solution to everything under the sun, which really isn't a conservative position at all.

Speaking as someone who wants Trump to lose but who probably agrees with Barrett on more issues than not, I hope the left focuses on substance and not on stupid stuff like tearing down her religious beliefs.

That is solely why she’s being put forward. There’s no shortage of more qualified judges.

I agree, it is just hard to come to terms with.

Is this special scrutiny only for christians ? or do you also apply it to sects of islam or judaism ?

what is "my people" you dont know me. Respect for the constitution cuts across all demographics.

The corner cutting will be insane to get all of this done.
She just went through a confirmation a few years ago. You're acting like nothing is known about her and she has never been vetted.

How many years of federal court experience did Elena Kagan have?

She wasn’t allowed a vote. She was also the Dean of Harvard Law School. She was certainly far more successful as an academic.

Remember when Trump touted that Gorsuch and Kavanaugh went to Yale, and said he liked people who went to the best schools?

the hypocrisy is just incredible, whether it is Trump, McConnell or others, there is always a tweet saved in time that will show what repulsive and hypocritical people we are dealing with in the White House and Senate, they will do ANYTHING to maintain and increase their power and won't flinch for a split second if they have to trample on american citizens or the democracy of the United States formed over two centuries.
Didn't Obama nominate Garland in an election year? Didn't most Dems support a vote in the Senate? Aren't you now criticizing the Senate for not voting in 2016?

What does her former confirmation have to do with this? All the other SCOTUS justices were confirmed to lower nominations prior to their higher nomination. They still took an average of 67 days to get confirmed. You're only proving my point that the plan is to cut corners.

Kagan's confirmation also took 88 days, so any questions if her suitability had more than ample time to be answered.

Not so with Barrett.

Serious question, does anybody believe she was nominated for any reason other than her religious convictions?

You realize Scalia and Kennedy were both appointed to the Supreme Court in the late 80’s right?
I remember a time when conservative Christians, especially Baptists, thought that Catholics were of the devil. Maybe over 25 years ago, but definitely in my adult lifetime. I did live in N. Carolina in the 70s and 80s, so I saw it.

meaningless post.

The only people attacking the nominee for her religous beliefs are Leftist bigots.
Years ago it would have been conservative Christians. I lived in N. Carolina in the 70s and 80s and knew plenty of Baptists who thought Catholics were of the devil.

Liberals who are worried about her are worried that she will put her oath to her cult above her oath to the constitution.

My President hires only the best! I’m sure with all her court room experience the SC will be hers to rule in a few years.
Sometimes it is just amazing how God uses his sense of humor! For the Dems it is “ next man in” again... for the GOP it is a time of unparalleled power. As long as this new Court remains intact, the GOP will enjoy lots of power.
