Playboy Magazine has decided to stop publishing photographs of fully nude models in its print edition, The New York Times first reported on Monday.

Hugh Hefner, the publication's founder and editor-in-chief, agreed with the decision, which was conceived by Playboy chief content officer Cory Jones.

"Don’t get me wrong... 12-year-old me is very disappointed in current me. But it’s the right thing to do," Jones told the Times.

I'm going to miss the Brazil cuts. Or for those of you who looked through them in the 70's, the home plates.

All good things must pass.

I remember the first time I saw Barbie Benton's pictorial, first time I ever read a Playboy. Until then, I didn't know women existed that looked that hot.

Nowadays, you can find the proverbial next door neighbor's hot wife naked on the internet, or just about any beautiful actress/model semi if not totally nude.

This sucks. Cindy Crawford's daughter recently said she wants to pose for Playboy when she turns 18. Couldn't they at least wait until then?

You'll note that I didn't post any pics of her. Because that would be wrong.

But here's the thing - when a daughter who looks exactly like her smoking hot supermodel mother publicly says she wants to pose nude in your magazine as soon as she is legal age even though she has more money than she could ever need, you don't turn around and implement a no nudity policy in your magazine. You &*#@&!% wait. Because that's the right thing to do for everyone.

There are an estimated 4.2 million porn sites on the internet and now Playboy is going to quit having fully nude pictures of women in their mag. What an effed up world we live in.

I think it's a smart move, attempting to go away from nudie mag to feature articles. Try and get rid of stigma, appeal to a wider audience.

Also, as you point out, people can go anywhere for nudes now.

I can't even think of a reason other than nudity to even open the damn thing up.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the nudes but Playboy did have some excellent articles and their dirty joke section was always a favorite of mine.

This just feels like the inevitable. Eventually the table had to turn. Print media (like in every industry) is a dying breed. People want digital now (outside of the old folks who still like print). I wonder if this means the girls stop dating Hugh?

Imagine a world where every woman walks around nude, everywhere in the world. For say oh...a decade, it's going to be awesome...but eventually, it'll become meh, no big deal.

It's been that way with clothed trends for quite some time now. Madonna comes around in the 80's, then half the women worldwide are wearing their undies on the outside. Britney comes around late 90's, then every woman is straining to look 18 years old into their 40's. Kim K gets her start via a sex tape building an empire off it...now sex tapes are passe.

We grow desensitized to this stuff over time...

Playboy was 40 years behind the times. They finally figured out they need to become FHM or whatever those magazines nowadays are - or die off in an agonizing, Montgomery Wards/Howard Johnson type death.

As for Cindy Crawford's daughter, her 18 year old coming out party will be Instagram posts or a sex tape, WWTTD, or somebody hacking her iCloud acct...

.

I fail to see how that will be awesome. You must have great selective eyesight.

I hope this makes the large collection from the 80's I have packed away, valuable collector items in the future.

I haven't read one in nearly 30 years, but 40 years ago it was a good magazine. Really. Had terrific fiction, good articles. Girls with large bazooms, as well, of course. But it was a legitimate magazine. It slipped, but a lot of that was the times. People don't read short stories anymore. Too much work, I guess.

Incidentally, I don't think I ever met anybody who had actually read "The Playboy Philosophy," or even an entire single installment of it.

Pretty sure the short stories are still a part of the magazine. At least they were a decade ago when I was still getting it delivered.

OK, so I was going to post pics of her and comment about how Iowa's age of consent was 16, thinking I was clever and would then receive much adoration for posting them.

But she's 13. Just can't do it. Wouldn't be prudent.
