Can anyone shed any light on this? I don't want to make a big deal of it, but I'm curious about what the heck happened before the meet. Grothus and Meyer both alluded to the IU guys trying to intimidate the Hawks. I think Brody said something about IU hanging out in Iowa's locker room. Alex said something about how they were "bouncing around". Sounds like something similar to a visiting football team stomping on the home team's logo at midfield.

I'm curious because you pretty much never see this kind of thing in wrestling. Any thuggery typically happens in the heat of battle -- not before or after the meet. I'm also curious because of who was evidently engaging in this kind of stuff. Seems akin to IU's football team heading down to Tuscaloosa and jumping around on Alabama's midfield logo right before a 63-0 shellacking.

I think the whole thing sounds hilarious -- just curious about whether anyone knows what actually happened.

Saw nothing. But the team was late coming into the arena. Had the national anthem before they got there.

Everything apparently happened in the locker room area, so it wouldn't have been visible to anyone in the stands. I figured maybe word got around at Carver.

I am not sure about by the locker room area, but Indiana's 125 lb guy ran up to Gilman and shook his hand before the meet when they hadn't even started intros yet, and then during the 125lb match, Indiana's guy was doing something that caused Tom Brands to get livid. Does anyone know anything about that?

Dang, easy -- you're a lot of help.;)

I think it was the head slaps in the 125 match. Gilman did a great job of keeping his cool, but Oliver was smacking him in the face/head repeatedly. I was concerned it might aggravate Thomas, but he just kept coming and shrugged it off. Good job outta him.

The Indiana kid had Gilman's knee in a bad spot and kept running with it after the whistle.

Boys... nearly everything I've seen and heard about Gilman this season leads me to believe we will have an NCAA champ @ 125 this year. He's always had the talent and I really have seen improved maturity from him.

To be fair Gilman has gone out and shook hands with his guy before his name announced a lot.

You're right. I just thought it was funny because intros started at 133 and ended at 125, but both guys were long gone by then.

I don't think it's any big deal, but it is pretty strange to be shaking a guy's hand before they even begin the intros. Even Gilman hasn't gone that far, although he does like the early handshake sometimes and it seems like he enjoys making it as awkward as possible. I'm sure Oliver was trying to get inside his head a little -- trying to beat the master of psychological warfare at his own art.

Watch the video for Meyer's interview for the best info on this I've found yet.

He was bending Gilmans toes and had his knee in a dangerous position. Later he was grabbing Gilman's singlet.

Jackson was bouncing around a lot. Alex was pretty chippy during their handshake, so you could tell something had happened. Alex is as laid back as it gets.

Speaking of Gilman, that may have been his most impressive match of the year. He ignored the Indiana punks slapping and trying to injure him, and proceeded to cleanly kick his ass. Gilman is as focused as any wrestler in the country.

Didn't see the bending of the toes. That's pretty innovative.

Lots of teams try different tactics--- 2 years ago at the Penn St dual, Iowa has the PSU room reserved for a workout.... PSU allows fans to fill the bleachers in the wrestling room. Not that the workout is any secret, but it is distracting as people are wanting pictures, autographs etc. Typically the home team will close off the room for the visitor for that workout time.

PSU? I'm not buying it. Never, under Cael's watch. He wouldn't stand for it.

The next thing you're going to try and tell us is that Cael once put up a curtain in his home arena to limit the attendance of visiting fans. Stop with this craziness.

Maybe they were just looking for oxygen tanks from the medical staff since some of their guys gassed pretty bad.

But seriously, it seems like a lot of teams that are trying to make a name for themselves do this a lot coming into CHA. Rutgers and to a lesser extent SDSU kind of acted like punks as if to prove who has the bigger d.

Tom should have put up a curtain to block the fans. Or at least close off part of the bleachers to limit their attendance.

Cael has proven himself to be an unethical dbag, time and time again. First the curtain, then Long, then letting visitors into Iowa's practice. 95% of my disdain for PSU is him.

When did carl let visitors into Iowa's practice? How does that work?

Thanks, Ross. I'm not sure where the "bouncing around" comes in, but whatever. Sounds like just college being knuckleheads. Not much to see here.

:(I believe that Indiana wanted to get the feel of what it's like to be in a "history filled winning locker room" because they've never experienced that at Indiana. They had to have something to remember about the night to block out the "ass kicking" they got.

Indiana kid was definitely pulling on Gilman's singlet from my angle

When the ref finally caught it, he claimed his finger just got caught. That can happen in a singlet strap, but not in the middle of the lower abdomen section. He was definitely grabbing and pulling on the uniform.
