I've Been Thinking On The No Such Thing As New Kirk/Old Kirk...

argument that was made by another poster. He said there is only a "Comfy Kirk" and "Hot Seat Kirk". I think this has some credibility. Look at last season and what the coaching staff did, all the various wrinkles they added.

Now in contrast through the first three games this year, it appears it's a lot of the same old, same old that got Kirk on the hot seat. From being predictable to just rushing our front four. We haven't used our raider package, have we blitzed once this year?

Maybe since Kirk knows he has a contract until 2026 with a massive buyout then he is going back to his comfortable ways.

It sure seems like the argument that poster made has legs.

I think you believing that Kirk cares more about his money, than his legacy doesn't have legs.
Exactly. And being fired or removed from his position as HC would be horrible for his legacy. Thus the way coached and performed last year. Now he knows he won't be fired no matter what. So he's back to playing not to lose.

Kirk is going to continue to believe and apply the basic principles that he thinks will win football games. That includes no risky plays that lead to turnovers, limit penalties, don't give up big plays and try to hold the other team to field goals. That is a recipe for conservative plays and close games.

There is no difference between kirk 2002. And kirk 2011. And kirk 2015. None. Zip

Did the New Kirk title come mostly from more attempts at 4th down conversions (either actual or perceived) last year? And if so, was that because despite Koehn's big leg, his accuracy was not super?

look at 2002 isu loss and bowl loss

look at 2016 ndsu loss

look at last year the msu and rose bowl losses

I'm telling you guys there is the same captain kirk right there

a few years back, same thing. now, greg davis coming on board, to me, this is the change that maybe you guys are looking around trying hard to find

This staff has some aging coaches. It will be interesting to see what stooges KF brings in as some of these guys retire. Still can't believe we have him another 10 year extension. Why, why, why? Why not five?

James Ferentz should be available soon. Once Brian takes over as OC for Davis, James can have the OL assistant position. Steve will graduate soon, so he can take over the DL spot for Morgan when he retires. That's 2 spots filled. Who else is getting long in the tooth?

Is bitching therapeutic for you?

Guys I don't see why every one is so up in arms not like we paid NDSU to come to iowa city and beat us.. Kirk coached a awesome game, got the guys way up to destroy an FCS team and made great during game adjustments, he saw NDSU's weakness and exploited it and never let them hang around when we had a chance to put them away! What's everyone's beff about?!?! Take that talking heads.. He proved u all wrong!

Opps wrong thread :(
