The mention of Ronnie Harmon brings out different emotions for Iowa fans for a few different reasons. Lost today however is the fact Harmon may very well be the most complete RB that Iowa ever lined up behind quarterback. The dude could do it all on the field, run inside, run outside, run near perfect routes and possessed some of the softest hands a RB could have. Many forget that Harmon had 126 rec and over 1,800yds receiving in his Iowa career. Fry loved RB's that could act as receivers.

With all that said I have a buddy that's involved with Iowa football plus a family member of mine was one of KF's greats. Both have told me expect great things from IKM this fall. The dude is complete. Can run between the tackles with the best of them and has the burst to get around the ends and turn on the jets. What really stands out though is that he could be the best receiving threat at RB in the KF era. When I heard that I had flashbacks of Harmon. With IKM being named #1 and with KF and BF trying to involve the RB's in the passing game more I wouldn't be surprised to see IKM go for 1,000 plus rushing 12 rushing TD's and have 35 rec, 350 plus yds rec and 3 TD's this year. The fact that he can bang it out inside, and the fact he is a more polished route runner sets him a part from Wadley. Now I hope we see the hype become a reality this Saturday and more.

Limiting the discussion to Harmon's talent, I'd agree with your assessment of him. If IKM can demonstrate 75% of that this year it should be a very good year.

Whoa, whoa,whoa,whoa, whoa...........................................................................................................................................whoa

This. Let's wait till he has a least one game as a starter to compare him "great" backs in Iowa history, please.

I put "great" in parenthesis because I will never forgive him for bagging the Rose Bowl.

To simply consider talent and effectiveness, Wadley might come closer to Ronnie. RH was a slippery side-to-side runner, with great hands (except in the aforementioned Rose Bowl ). Ronnie could make 3 cuts on a 3 yd gain, kinda like Wads.

IKM seems to me to be more of a slasher. Maybe Fred Russell, with hopefully more power and tackle breaking ability. Or, Tavian Banks perhaps.

Ronnie Harmon was the most talented player I have seen in a Hawkeye uniform. Sadly, his character did not match his talent. I would be very happy if the current running backs can consistently find the cut-back lane on the stretch plays, have adequate burst to get to the second level consistently, and not fumble. Picking up blitzes would be a great addition to their skill set. I have no expectation of seeing another Ronnie Harmon.

Ivory K-M needs to string together some 100 yd
rushing games in our three non-conference games.
And then prove it is not a fluke by doing it our Big
Ten games. Potential needs to be proven on the
football field.
