Jack Nunge transferring

Ouch is all I can muster. NOW the transfer portal is a must! This is probably the biggest blow we could have

Maybe 2 Murrays, 2 Macs, and a Sandafort makes Iowa play like Oregon....all 6 5“ or more
add some Tony Perkins, a tiny bit of skates toussaint, some blunt force trauma when needed from Ogundele and maybe Iowa wins with defense

I'm sorry this is happening, but I understand why. Good luck to him and I wish him the best.

Tough road for him. Completely understandable that he needs to be closer to home at this time in his life.

Would be a really good MVC player. Hopefully he doesn’t go to Evansville to be with Lickliter for his sake. They’re doing a total rebuild at Indiana State so maybe there?

Best of luck to Jack. I still think he’s got a shot at the NBA if he can make a full recovery. He will certainly have earned it if he does

From an Iowa perspective, this gives Fran a ton of flexibility in the immediate future, and a great sales pitch for all the good transfers in the portal
I just hope that some good ones out there are catching. We haven't exactly been killing it with transfers.

Some forget he was in the same class as Garza. I imagine the guys he was closest with are moving on and after the past few years he’s had with injuries and the death of his father this year I can’t blame him one bit.

I believe if he goes to IU or Purdue he can’t get a scholarship or was that just football or no longer the case?

Sorry to see Jack go, I was looking forward to that front line length and thought he’d be great playing with a more experienced PMac and Keegan but I wish him all the best. He deserves much better times ahead

Much respect and admiration for Jack. Injury after injury and then the loss of his father, then another injury that ends his season. Hope the next pasture is much greener and he goes on to do great things on and off the court. We here in Hawkeye Nation will always have your back, Jack.

Normally I'd greet this news as trivial but in this unique circumstance, and assuming Jack can actually continue to play, its a huge loss. Never thought those words would leave my keyboard.

I’ll never have anything but love for Nunge. The kid came in as a freshman and identified weaknesses in his game (and body) and fully invested. He then tore an ACL and battled back from that. Then his dad dies suddenly and he fights back again. Another knee injury and I can’t blame him for just wanting to go back near family.

I will be a Jack Nunge fan wherever he goes and I hope he finds a great situation for himself and has a great end to what’s been a really rough college career so far.

I have no doubt he’ll find success in life - he’s a hard worker and very tough. Jack will be missed.
