Jack Nunge transferring

This is definitely a bummer to hear, but completely understandable. Not many things trump virtually guaranteed starter minutes, but family is definitely one of them. I'm praying he'll find success wherever he goes - he definitely more than deserves it.

Western Kentucky is only an hour and a half from Evansville. Wouldn't be a bad program to transfer to either.

Wish the best for Jack. He's been through a lot in his time at Iowa. He was really playing great before the latest injury.

I wish Jack the best, but hope he doesn't transfer to another B1G school. If this doesn't get Fran interested in the transfer portal, I guess nothing will. Hawks are going to really struggle if they don't find a quality Big transfer. There were a bunch available, but I have no idea whether Fran has been in contact with any of them.

I wish him the best as a former hawkeye. He'll never be Luka though, and next year Iowa message boards would have been ridiculous because of it.

I believe he's from a town on the Indiana/Kentucky border. Murray St is close. Kentucky and Louisville are about the same distance away as Butler.

My son and I discussed this. We lived in Jasper, IN 20 years ago which is not quite an hour from Newburgh where Jack went to high school. Evansville is 15 minutes at most from his home so that could be a landing spot. Ironically a former Iowa coach is there right now as you probably know (Licklieter SP). Indiana State is within 2 hours as well as is Western KY. I don't see him going to another Big 10 school as his time at Iowa seemed to go well. It sure sounds as if his biggest concern is to be close to his family so even though these teams are probably considered a half step down from the Power 5 schools it would fulfill him being close to home.

Where is Terra Haute in relationship with Evansville, time wise? Unless he's a complete liar, like Tyler Smith, and this really is about family, a premise I'm certainly willing to accept, I'd think closer to home the better. He could live at home and go to Evansville.

Did Todd win any games this past season?

Evansville is just down the road from Terre Haute.

I just can’t see Nunge playing for Lickliter. He’s surely heard the horror stories of the IA Lackluster regime.

Within a 2 hour drive is reasonable for most college kids. That now puts IU in play. He can play at the B1G level and IU need the help.

I don't know if IU is going to be interested. They recruit a much higher level than Iowa transfers. Did they qualify for the NCAA tournament this year, though? Indiana State has a decent program and, if he can play hard minutes on bad knees, could be a real star over there.

Does Kansas recruit at a much higher level than Iowa transfers? The point is, the transfer market is a much different animal than HS recruiting.

You sure he kicks ass no matter where he plays? Say a random place like Illinois, for instance.
He may not have "kicked ass" at Iowa, but he was 100% going to be a Big Ten starter and he's proven he can hang in the Big Ten. If he put himself out there Nationally, he'd have a ton of offers. The only thing holding him back for more would be his injury history IMO.

Jack is a good basketball player, period. He's a legit DI Power 5 player, and he's proven that beyond the shadow of a doubt.

I mistyped. What I meant to say was “would you want him to kick ass even if it were a place like Illinois?”, and I’m asking that for a specific reason.

As long as they lose to Iowa. Players come and go, for various reasons. But every year the jersey says Iowa.

I'm assuming here but what about Purdue or ND? 3 hrs?
