What, but all the naysayers were saying....."He Gone", are recruiters "can't close the deal",there "lazy", there "inept". So how was this possible?

I know, how did that happen? I saw several people saying it was over and to move on. Maybe people will eventually learn to trust our coaching staff and the relationships they have developed with these kids. For the past two weeks, it's been all about the staff not closing the deal on Jackson and Fant, interesting to see that both signed with Iowa today.

Probably same people who after Big 10 title game said no chance Iowa gets the Rose bowl over OSU. They throw enough of this crap out when it actually sticks half the time then they can beat their chest and say I told you so.
Kudos to Jackson for doing it right. He had one of the Blue Bloods come after him late in the process, he delayed his decision to make sure he had all of the info, and made the decision that was best for him. It just happens to be the right decision! But seriously, I'm glad he postponed his decision instead of committing to Iowa then taking a look at Michigan. Glad to have him on board. He has a great frame (6-7 285) for an OT and has the athleticism to be a good one if he works his butt off.

He's no where near 6'7" per his pic with lattimore and golston. I was very surprised by that given how often his size is quoted. 6'4" standing straight would be my guess.
This is a great get and really a big sigh of relief. That said, congrats to the coaching staff and to all the incoming freshman. I see this as a very strong class for Iowa. They got a lot of needs filled and held on to a couple of recruits ( Fant/ Jackson) when some others made a late stage push. This is a much needed step in the right direction for recruiting.

I disagree with this. When I looked at the photo of all the recruits in during the same weekend, he definitely looks a couple inches taller than both kids. It's possible he's only 6'6" but to say he's no where near 6'7" isn't accurate in my opinion.
I am calling out others who continuously call out our coaching staff for being lazy, inept and bad overall recruiting. If you read the forums, you would see they are also continuously bash our recruiting in general. If you read my past posts, you would see I have never said a negative word about our recruiting. I am realist, and don't expect us to be able to recruit on par with Ohio State, or Michigan.
This is what happens when you been shoveling snow and your fingers are numb. Add to that that I can't spell anyway, must be that Iowa State education I received.....LOL

With the commitments of Jackson and Fant, fifty "Nervous Nellie's" on this recruiting board were able to cancel their PM
appointments with their heart doctors. Congrats to the Hawkeye staff on a good recruiting year! They were able to go into Michigan/Michigan State territory to pick up 4 good recruits.

I think Brandon Scherff was listed as 6'7" when recruited and was 6'5" something when measured at the combine. He turned out OK at tackle even though he was not quite 6'7". Let's hope it is similar with Jackson.
Matty Campbell needs to sleep in his office more and maybe then he can beat out the Hawks for recruits.
Normally, one should be able to accruately say a player is at least as tall as 2 inches under his stated/official height. If they're saying he's 6'7" he's probably at least 6'5"

I heard Jackson was leaning slightly to michigan when Whorebaugh invited himself for a sleepover.

Anyway, class seems decent, it is crap shoot once you get beyond the 4-5 star talent. KF does as well as he can absent being a blue blood.

Oh, calm down. I just find it funny when people go out of their way to call someone out and then have grammar mistakes. It kind of takes away from the message. This is the most common one, "your a idiot." It's funny because it makes the poster look like an idiot himself. I didn't mean to be a jerk, in fact I was just trying to be funny and was picking on him some. Hence the emoticon at the end.

Except WR. Need to improve the recruitment of this position. Just ask CJB if you don't agree. If he had 2-3 guys that could separate that would change the dynamics of the offense this year. Not gonna happen. Meerkat is good but is a 3 on most top 25 teams.
