Jake Heinrich - why no Iowa offer?

Does anyone know why Hawks never offered this guard from Urbandale? Rivals has him rated number two player in the state and a 5.7 rating. Lots of power 5 offers, committed to Arkansas and we never offered him. This has probably been discussed before but if so I missed the story.

This is about as head scratching as not offering the Notre Dame recruit who was an Iowa legacy.

Foster went to Minnesota

Both had fathers that played here,were rated pretty high,never got the offer from iowa.

Not sure about the kissing ass part as every coaching staff does that. They seemed to do plenty of that on other recruits (ex - Allen Lazard), so not sure what would stop them on Heinrich.

Kiss some butt....get them in camp and then knock them down a bit when they realize as a freshman they aren't going to dominate from day 1.

Had to be an attitude thing with Heinrich. He knew he was a big time prospect, and Iowa refused to kiss his ass like most schools are willing to do.

Interesting. Let's remember Lazard did verbally commit to Iowa St fairly early, but Captain Kirk (along with Notre Dame) kept calling Lazard down to last minute to try to get him to turn his commitment.

Iowa barely even looked at Lazard. He was Ronald McDonald-bound from Day 1.

Yeah and it was a lie. Rhoads did it to try and drum up support from the fan base after a bad season and it worked.
