While he hasn't landed many of his top targets or the 4/5 star prospects Fran seems to have a very good eye for talent. Warney is having a great career at Stony Brook. Of course, we all know the Aaron White story too. Trying to remember some other one off names -- Evan Boudreax, Cole Huff, EJ Matthews, OG Anunoby, Ethan Happ are all doing fairly well at their schools with the later ones fairly heavily recruited.

Will be interesting to see if the recent on-court success will allow him to have more recruiting success. Looks like no real room at the inn for the next couple years though.

I already forgot about Boudreaux. I see he is the leading scorer and rebounder for a pretty bad Dartmouth team.

I don't see this kid in the recruiting database for '16, '17 or '18. ???

He's saying that Fran has an eye for talent. IIRC we offered him a few years ago and has turned out very well at another institution.

He is a Senior at Stoney Brook averaging 18 pts, 10 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 3 blocks
Would have been a 2011 or 2012 recruit.

And that eye was needed, because coming in, no decent quality recruit was coming here.

NOW, he thankfully (and hopefully) can change that focus a bit, and start bringing in more thoroughbreds.

I look at Frans recruiting and now trust what he is doing. I was very skeptical about some of his offers and the players he signed in his first couple of years. But he has proven me wrong. Fran will try and go after the elite talent, but if they have no interest, why should he waste his time. He can get a player like AW in here and work them hard for 4 years. I look at Uhl and was kind of shocked we offered him. I saw film and while impressive he didn't stand out. This year he has shown why Fran offerd. He is a 6-9 player who can play the wing or the 5 position. He can draw big men out away from the basket and shoot it or drive it. He is a smooth player who will only get better.

Fran has a knack for finding talent and I think it will continue. I think his incoming freshman class will be much like (this years seniors). They are ranked average, but they will take their lumps early on and by the 3rd or 4th year they will be able to compete in the Big Ten. I also like Frans balance in players. I realize we lose 4 solid players this year, but we will return 4-5 players with experience and guys who can step in and play and give the freshman a chance to adapt to the game.

I hope we give Franny a nice contract extension after this year regardless. He is doing great things with the program and no matter what he isn't satisfied until we win it all!
