There are conflicting stories about if / how much he was paid for his "This is CNN", promo. I saw one clip of him yesterday saying he did it in a few minutes as a favor, and didn't realize for years it had turned into such an iconic thing. Supposedly in later years he was paid by CNN for it.

One other interesting thing I saw yesterday, was Jones said he did all of his voice work for the first Star Wars movie in less than 3 hours.
He and George Lucas wanted this expressionless voice, yet it became so powerful.
