Documentary of a dying mall in Jasper, AL. The Security Guard is Tiger King lite.

Wow, blast from the past!! Reminded me of Westdale/Lindale mall. Kind of sad really how most are dying off and only a few are left.

I think Coral Ridge and Jordan Creek do OK still. Westdale is a shell of its former self. Lindale still hanging on by a thread.

Westdale isn’t a shell of its former self, it’s completely redone as a series of strip malls and large stand alone anchor stores after a Denver mall redevelopment group bought it. It’s retail and restaurants are actually booming.

Does westdale even exist?

I went into Lindale pre COVID and it was creepy how few people were there. Pretty sure a tumbleweed rolled by

They also had this weird MAGA type t-shirt stand selling pro gun, pot and Merica shirts. They were the type of shirts you see people wear at Walmart, but not classy enough to be sold at Walmart

You don’t need to wear a mask at the two malls in cedar falls / Waterloo.

Idk why but I’m fascinated with abandoned (or nearly abandoned) malls and casinos. Plus old fast food joints that either sit abandoned or converted to something else like an old Pizza Hut with the same roof and windows converted to a title pawn place or whatever.

abandoned malls make interesting photography.

What happened to the Old Capitol Mall? It’s like a couple stores, Chinese restaurants and UI offices. And yes, the last time I was in there before recently was 1998 so I am a little out of touch.

You are not alone... It Makes me laugh every time I see a bank that was clearly built as a Pizza Hut.

In Columbia, Missouri there’s a sandwich place with all the equipment from a Quiznos, but it’s called like “Rosies Sandwiches” or something. The kitchen equipment seemed reasonable for reuse, but they also had the same tables, color scheme, condiment stand and even used the same plastic trays. We called it Fake Quiznos

I only go to Jordan creek when I have to but every time I’ve been there I would say it was the opposite of struggling.

Is comprehension something many on this board lack?
You said you thought it was doing OK still (in a paragraph which was negative). Doing ok still does not suggest it is thriving. I let you know it appeared to be thriving whenever I’ve been there. Do a better job of communicating what you are thinking.

It is kind of sad to see them go. I think the same of book and music stores. I use to spend a lot of time in places like Borders, looking over new music and books, coffee in hand.

Nostalgia is a real thing. When I was a kid I loved getting orange julius and going to the arcade. Now the idea of going to a mall sickens me but those are good memories.
