JBO

Needs to hunt his shot. He puts so much pressure on the defense when he is engaged looking for his shot. Opens things up for the rest of the offense when he is aggressive.
What do you think he's already doing pretty much 100% of the time that he's on the floor? As our point guard he had zero assists and zero rebounds the last game. If he wasn't hunting for his shot then what was he doing on the offensive end for 30 minutes?

If he was truly hunting shots, you would think an experienced guard such as himself would have found more than five attempts. And he made 40% of them. Is that not above the efficiency standard?

Efficient for a guy that comes off the bench. For a pg with 0assists. No.

I think you just made my point.

Its funny that anyone thinks he doesn't shoot by choice or isn't looking to shoot.

He can't get open againstmost teams in conference. It doesn't matter what he wants to do.

Hes a very easy assignment for a big ten athlete.

Just stay with him, he can't back door you twoards the basket so you can overplay with no consequences.

I feel like people on this board are living in some alternative reality. He only had 5 attempts because that's all he could find. When your only game is 3 point shooting defenders are going to be up in your grill and when you are only 6' tall you need space to get a clean shot off. The defender knows not to worry about Jbo driving inside because he doesn't do it. Ever. It makes defending him pretty easy.

Osu is actually losing track of him a little and he's not making them pay.

Although drawing the 3pt foul on wheeler was a very smart play.

Let's try and bitch about JBO again. He does a good job at point, doesn't turn the ball over like JT who must have small hands as many times as he loses the ball and can't shoot outside the paint. Nice team ball today and all the bitches on here about JBO bad defense are crazy. Not great but seems okay the last three to five games.
Sorry now you can crap on me just because that's what you trolls do all the time!!!

JBo is not a good point guard and is not good on defense. Joe T is far better at the point. JBo should play some 2 when he's making shots.

Could not disagree more. JT should be getting 75 percent of PG minutes. Defense and rebounding are major components of the game. Ulis emergence allows us to play Joe more as we have a taller guard opposite JT for matchups on D and boards. There is a reason we are undefeated when we out rebound opponents.

I think some folks here spend a lot of their free time thinking up things to complain about regarding JBo. Does he have his limitations? Of course? Are there times he should be on the bench? Yes, if his shot is off or he cannot defend. After all this time he should warrant some acknowledgement of what he does bring. A shooting threat, leadership, and from what I have seen lately, a big effort to improve his defense. Can he be a liability sometimes? Yes and Fran needs to recognize that and adjust. However, when JBo is on the court at least one defender tries to stay in his face. That opens things up for everyone else. Do I wish he was 6’2”? Yes. Not happening, so let’s accept what he brings, both good and bad, and move on to facing MSU! Thanks for reading this rant. Sometimes I just get frustrated and need to let it out.

You deserve to be crapped on. It was a post about Jbo needing to look more for his shot. What did you expect? For people to agree that he's not looking for his shot? Give me a break.

Listen...the equation is simple...if Jbo is outscoring his defensive limitations, play him. If he's not hitting threes, he can't be in the game until late and only when we have a lead to make free throws.

How the ball ends up in his hands late in the clock against a good defensive guard is maddening. He was bailed out today on one of them...and he made a nice play to initiate contact...but often, that call doesn't happen since the defender was straight up.

He gave up back to back layups because he didn't get back on defense to begin the second half. Unacceptable.

Was he in the game when we made the run in the second half? No. The lineup of Joe T, Ulis, Chris Murray, Keegan Murray and Patrick won this game. They got stop after stop on the defensive end and if Patrick doesn't make two boneheaded plays back to back...turnover and interfering with Keegan's rebound...we may have had a 16 or 18 point lead with that group on the floor. It's the lineup that should start in my opinion...but I like Philip L. too.

I agree. The repetitive comments about Jbo and who should play and who shouldn’t make it hard to engage on this site. It’s sad that so many people think they know better than the coaches. And nothing against JT, I love the kid, but I wonder if it’s his size and his unpredictability that make the coaches to keep him on the bench.

Yeah but an even simpler equation is Jbo plays 30 minutes no matter how he shoots or defends.

Thats it, thats the only equation going down at this point in the season. Is what it is.

I've stopped trying to understand it and just accepted it.

It makes it easier to watch.

Size? He defended young in the post well. He thickness makes up for his lack of size.

How dare fans question why a PG who has 1Rb and 1Ast in last 60 minutes over 2 games
and is a defensive liability is getting 75 percent of the minutes.

Go rewatch the game, Iowa makes both runs in first and second halves during stretch where Jbo was on the bench.

Defense and rebounding are the keys to this team winning.

Even with Joe T, Ulis, or Perkins at the guards, they have plenty of scoring with Kris, Keegan, PMac, Rebraca, Sandfort.

If JBo is hot from 3, play him. Otherwise, he should get 15 minutes, not 30.

He didn’t shoot as well today but he played pretty good defense as did the entire team.
