Jim Reid

Saw that too. Would be a big loss saw his interview with Chad and all the linebacking crew and was blown away by his teachings and their respect for him.

Good luck to Coach Reid! His career path is an interesting one to look back on.

Not a done deal..only a candidate at this point. BC's main target will likely be let go by the Eagles soon so we'll see how it plays out.

Disagree, Reid was a second DC on the team. I'm sure it helped Parker focus on the DBs more and had two DCs focus on game prep. Does Woods move back to LB coach? He was there before and got moved.

After our defensive performance this year, or lack thereof, I'm fine with losing one of the "co" DCs.

You are joking right???? Pretty sure our D was pretty damn good.....besides idk why a D1 program would hire a coordinator to jumpstart a program that will be collecting social security soon.....

What happens to the 2016 class if Wallace and Reid leave before NSD?

Not much, Wallace is listed as the lead recruiter for Nate Stanley, Toren Young, and Amani Hooker. Reid for Toks. I think the first 3 are soild and Toks 80% because he has apparently scheduled other official visits, at least one other to Indiana.

Who will replace Reid at LB coach?

Levar Woods?
Dan McCarney?

I hate the thought of finding a new recruiting coordinator, seemed like Wallace had things rolling.

What's McCarney doing these days? Would be an interesting addition. Not sure he'd want to come back as a position coach.

Would not mind seeing Danny Mac come back to finish out his career. Not sure he would though.

Wallace is the recruiting coordinator, right? The guy that seemed to pump life into Iowa's recruiting process?

I would like to see Iowa find a way to get AJ Blazek on the staff. They could move Woods back to LB's and Blazek could coach TE's and already be on staff to take over offensive line when/if KF promoted BF to coordinator.

Rutgers just hired AJ. I'd love to see Wallace stick around. He seems to be doing something right.

Maybe they can hire Greenway since he is reported to be retiring at the end of the season. He seemed to know a little about playing LB

Yeah, I"m guessing a guy that has been playing football for 18 straight years including HS, college and the Pros, might want to take a little time off if he is going to retire at the end of the season. I'm not sure why he would want to get back into the grind of coaching right away, just seems unlikely to me.

It would be surprising(and disappointing) if Wallace left, he was an Iowa native that was returning to his home state and is relatively new at this job. If he does leave, I wonder if it speaks more to the demands of being a recruiting coordinator and the desire to just be a coach versus not liking or being a good fit at Iowa? We saw Eric Johnson get burned out, I can only imagine the toll it takes to be a recruiting coordinator, a job that requires 24/7 and 365 days of attention catering to the needs and desires of high school athletes, just seems like it would drain the life out of you very quickly.

Great players do not always translate into good coaches. I am not saying he would be a bad coach, just that its not a given he would be a good one.

Why would Greenway even have any interest in coaching in college? I remember Matt Roth being quoted that even he wasn't crazy enough to get into the college coaching world. He's had a nice career, has plenty of $, why not retire, relax, spend time with the family etc instead of subjecting himself to a college coaching schedule right away.

I'm not gonna give Wallace all the credit for recruiting. The new football facility has had more to do with it than anything.

BF was giving him a good bit of credit last summer, so I'm willing to give him some there. He has a staff that presumably he hired, or is managing, and many recruits have said the mail they get from Iowa is some of the best, and that's all under Seth's watch.

You have to give Wallace credit for all of the organizing that he has done-setting up camps, setting up on campus visits, organizing coaches visits to high schools,etc....etc...He has made an impact with alot of the "behind the scene" stuff. Iowa needed an upgrade with this stuff and Wallace helped accomplish this.

Perhaps Iowa would look at William Inge, known during his Iowa playing days as Bill Ennis-Inge? I know the defenses at Indiana haven't been anything to write home about, but he has been good everywhere else he has been (and I would argue that the Indiana linebackers have been the best part of that defense).

Having said that, I don't think that Iowa ties are essential--Jim Reid was a good hire, without any Iowa ties. I would rather have a good coach who is a good philosophical fit for what we want to do on defense. Much as I like Greenway, I don't think that Iowa should go with an ex-player who has not established himself in the coaching ranks after his playing days. I think that we can assume that Ferentz will take his time, as he has been in the past, in filling the position.

My mention of greenway was primarily in fun. I would not expect chad to want that stress as noted, nor does a good player = good coach.
