Earlier I took a look at the box score from yesterday’s game and was perplexed about JoBo’s line so I went back and rewatched the game. In 29 minutes he made 8 passes inside the 3 point arc, 3 of which were inside 12 feet and zero baskets were scored off those 8 passes. 3 times in the 2nd half he made passes to Weezy (2) who made moves on his own to create space for the jumpers and Nunge who ultimately drove for a bucket, all 3 from 20-25 feet away where JoBo was given an assist even though the”passes” had nothing to do with the baskets being scored. He also got credit for a 4th assist that I did not see. Zero turnovers for the game, even though he couldn’t get the ball inbounds once, but it is hard to turn the ball over when almost all of your passes are uncontested from 25 feet away from the basket. 1 for 5 from the field including the 1 on 2 30 foot jumper. That may have been the most nothing of a game for a PG you can find as JoBo and Loyer had one hell of a pillow fight!

Just pointing out the very less than stellar PG play. In the 25 minutes the Rutgers game was on he worked the ball inside the arc 3 times in 19 minutes with 1 basket being scored. So in 48 minutes of the 2 games this week Iowa scored 1 basket off 11 feeds from #3 inside the arc. Should that type of play continue, the Hawks are probably not looking too good against the likes of Michigan, OSU and Wisconsin over the next 5 games. Sorry, but facts are facts and bad play is bad play!

He definitely deserves full blame for the loss.

Oh, wait...

JBo has been looking like he is packing it in these last handful of games. Especially on defensive end. He is about 3rd or 4th fiddle on this team and he doesn’t seem to like it. Maybe I’m misreading him. Seems like he is done with or over college basketball. That photo post win where he is in the back all alone while Weezy mugging it up has me
wondering....

How dare you post an analysis that looks beyond the score and general program reputation!!

Who the hell do you think you are?!!!

I’ll tell you who you are. You’re a hateful hater with a nefarious agenda and a deep, deep, malignant hatred of Iowa and Iowa players, and the state of Iowa and my grandma! That’s who you are. Now shut your damn mouth right NOW!!!!!

derp....

Good post. Need more like it.

MSU was one of Jordan's best defensive games all year I thought.

Just by those with an agenda.

Really? You sound like somebody obsessed. He has a funny way of tying his shoes. Please research it for us.

I totally agree with you. I don’t know how anyone could think this guy in a good pg. he might be high on the assists totals for the school but he’s also been playing with Garza and other guys that can score. Not to many of his assists are because of his great passes of finds. They are just simple passes where the scorer makes the play. A good pg makes passes that creates easy baskets. Look at the 3/4 court pass joe t made to pmac last game. Has jbo ever come close to a pass like that? Maybe few and far between.

I won't argue that Jordan is a great PG (he's more of a 2G in a PG body), but other former Hawkeyes have played with others who can score as well. I'd say B.J. Armstrong was a pretty great PG and played with several guys who could score as well. Not saying they are comparable, just that you do have to give JBo some credit here.

JBo, connor and what ever guard is playing last 2 years is the beneficiary of more assist thanks to luka. Pretty obvious 2 things jbo brings are shooting and low turnovers but if either are off then really hurts us. Flip side Toussaint who can turn it over more provides something Jbo doesn’t is he one defends but he can beat his man off the dribble and creates open shots for others as we’ve seen teams do to our guards past few years. That’s why next year joeT will be a lot more valuable once Garza is gone and we don’t have that great low post presence like luka or cook before that. However will say having a shooter like Bohannon with Garza’s style is very valuable for both players.

In a perfect world I’d like to see Bohannon 25-28 min to 12-15 for Toussaint at least but don’t think the 35-5 ratio we’ve seen some games of late is not a recipe for success.

Congrats. Very likely the most meaningless BB analysis I have ever seen.
