I wouldn’t be surprised if this happens. If CJ lands at Kentucky, he will have to essentially be playing at the level Tyler Herro was, so he doesn’t get passed up.
And this is a kid who’s afraid to take contested shots at the college level consulted to someone who has an insane amount of confidence
They need shooters. Tons of athleticism but no shooters this year, which is one of the reasons they were so bad. If he ends up there he's going to get minutes.

Who said he's afraid to shoot? He was very good when healthy. When not healthy, not nearly as good. Pretty simple really. UK needs role players to fit in with their stars. He will likely have a role there if that's where he ends up.
Reading the Kentucky boards most of their fans are not thrilled with CJ heading there which is interesting. I have a feeling he's not going to get the minutes he feels he deserves but I think Cal might want some stability to balance out all his one and done's. It will be very interesting. I was a huge CJ fan, one of my favorite players in recent years. I grew up a diehard hawkeye so it means something to me but basically he's not really going to be welcome back anytime soon. Sounds like he's flushing all of his former friendship/teammates down the drain. Sad situation.
He averaged less than three 3’s a game while shooting nearly 50% playing for a coach who plays up tempo and lets his guys pull it whenever they want. Fran sure as hell wasn’t putting him on some shot limit. Fran gives his guys the green light all day. Jok and Bohannan have had games of taking 12+ 3’s, I don’t think anyone would have minded CJ having a 4/12 night, he just wouldn’t pull the trigger enough.
A role on the beach? I don't understand his thinking when starting at Iowa, even not at full strength.
Apparently Uncle Joe is a KU fan and made posts before the season even ended inferring that CJ was transferring. If this is true, the Fredricks are ultimate snakes.
CJ has a good percentage because he's such a selective shooter. We have no idea what his percentage would be as a volume/primary shooter.

He’s not a shooter, guys who play his minutes and take less than three 3’s a game aren’t shooters. He’s not a creator either or a great defender.
This...probably gets 30+ minutes next year at Iowa. Don’t see him getting anywhere above 20 at Kentucky? Was it worth it? We shall see.
