9 points on 3 for 3 shooting and 2 for 2 from the line. 4 assists and 4 steals in 17 minutes. Zero turnovers. Completely disruptive defensively. I know the competition is weak but between this game and the exhibition JT has 9 assists to 1 turnover. Weak competition or not, he looks to be playing under control and running the offense like a veteran pg so far.

He looked good. As long as he doesn't rush things and play relaxed he's shown how good he is. I think knowing he is the starter takes away some of the mental pressure on him and just let's him play within his own game. Uhlis also looked very good. Still need to face some tougher opponents to really gauge where things are at. Jbo also seemed very comfortable at the 2.

Joe needs to be playing 30+ every night once we hit these tougher games, he looked fantastic.

I agree Joe looks as good as he ever has.

I think Ulis is a better offensive pg but ideally I'd like to have both of them on the court for a majority of the game.

This teams improved athleticism is really going to benefit joe i think. We’re going to see a lot of transition dunks with pat and keegan running the wings and a lot of transition 3’s from jbo/sandfort. Idk if there’s anybody in the BIG that can beat joe down the floor. His shot also looks much improved. Super excited to watch him this season, thinking he’s going to turn a few heads!

I don't think we should bench the best 3 point shooter in Big Ten history but that is just me.
One doesn't necessarily require the other. You could have all 3 out there at times.

But Bohannon’s pt should depend on how badly hes getting worked on the other end and how many open shots he's getting.

Anything remotely resembling the Oregon game is not going to work.

Did anyone else notice Joe getting beat quite a few times by their PG #11 Hill? It might have been he was gambling a bit and putting his hand in the cookie jar to try and turn Hill over since we had a big cushion, or maybe Joe is dinged? His straight line speed looked about the same but he didn't look as quick to switch directions with his hips and move laterally.

Did anyone else see this?

He does take more chances than most coaches would like.

And still frequently goes under screens for some reason. Maybe they knew the pg couldn't shoot?

Ulis has equally quick feet and is an overall more sound defender but Joe has more disruptive hands and cause more TOs.

We'll see when we're in a close game and need a stop if Joe T can play sound d and hold the point of attack more often. I think he will. It's going to be awesome the first time he picks the pocket of an opposing B1G PG in a close game with 3 minutes to play and sold out Carver goes nuts.

Its a fine line. I love his disruptiveness but sometimes you just need to keep the ball in front of you.

I wouldn't be surprised if he leads the conference in steals.

I think part of the reason they have Joe playing so aggressive is because they know Keegan’s there on the backside.

Most of the time against good competition you have to do just that, keep the ball in front of you. Play solid and if the opponent bobbles it you can go for the steal.

Ulis isnt nearly as quick as joe. Joe might be the quickest player in the BIG

I mainly noticed that he tends to pick up unnecessary fouls. Sometimes a defender will allow his person to get by and into a planned double team or trap. I didn't really think he got beat off the dribble much.

Uh not many defensive schemes purposefully let an opposing guard take one or two dribbles and go from the perimeter to the paint, but okay.

You can think what you want but Joe T is much quicker than Ahron. It's not close, really.
Joe is quicker straight line but I would argue Ahron is as quick or quicker swiveling hips and moving laterally which is more important for keeping the ball in front of you in perimeter defense.

Agree, Joe's faster and im sure if you put them in a set of cone type drills Joe would come out ahead but Ahron looks just as good at staying in front of a ballhandler as Joe does.

The best defenders aren't always the most athletic. Theres instincts and technique that come into play too.

Um - where did I say into the paint? And if you don't think traps are planned you have no concept of defensive basketball.

Watch the replay because that's where the guards went after they got past Joe. And I know that traps are a part of defense, but that's not what was happening which is precisely my point.

There was one sequence, I don't recall if it was Longwood or Slippery Rock, but he tapped the ball from the pg, the pg recovered, another opposing guard got the ball, Joe dove and attacked the ball again, tipped it away, came to his feet, grabbed the ball and initiated a fast break. He was like a Hawk that saw a rabbit, swooped down and injured it but dropped it while it struggled and swooped down and grabbed it again and flew off. He was fricking relentless.

Dork? For making a statement that quite frankly didn't have anything to do with yours or your comment above? What are you, 12, or just an overly sensitive soul?

And I would argue - the "want to" to play defense as well.

I think that was in the game on Tuesday.

Sorry, I shouldn't have been so harsh.

Further, him breaking down defenses, should open up those wide open 3's for Jabo. This could be a very good situation.

I agree and he had a couple go down in first half so his confidence on offense was high
