Having both would be huge rn. While we’d still be slightly lacking a PG that can do the D up, knock down 3s at a over 35%, and penetrate, we would
be in great shape at PG overall. Nunge woulda been a much needed 2nd big (but who can hit shots/spread floor).

Sometimes when Kris is in, Rebraca takes up space down low (similar to Keegan last year)

Would love to see nunge be able to
throw to cutters going back door and play pick n pop with Kris

Joe T would be a big upgrade over Ulis and Nunge and Rebraca together would be a force. Unfortunate it worked out the way it did.

I miss Jack, he would have really done well in Fran's system had he stayed

Joe T not so much, his perimeter D is outstanding but he's not a great shooter and makes to many TO's

Joe T isn't not missed at all. If we had Nunge then we probably would not have Rebraca. I actually prefer Rebraca. We would be no better off if we had Joe or Nunge.

You really think Joe would have been a difference making for this team? Or you'd rather have Nunge over Rebraca?
Yeah.....but I'm greedy and since this is all hypothetical, we get both Nunge AND Rebraca.

Btw, Nunge has averaged 13.4/7.4 and 14.3/7.8 (ppg/rpg) in his two years at Xavier. Rebraca has roughly the same numbers this year anyway, although Nunge is .2 better in both stats if you wanna get technical.

The big difference though?............Nunge is shooting 42.7% from 3 with 38 makes. Rebraca is 2 for 6 on the year and hasn't attempted a 3 since our loss to Purdue.

Just sayin..............

So in other words you don't have a good reason for the "laughing" responses other than you're a jerk.

But we wouldn't have had Rebraca if we had kept Nunge. Jack has been a stud at Xavier, and clearly he's been very solid from the 3. Rebraca is possibly the most improved player in the Big Ten this year. Kind of a wash.

Miss the part about this all being hypothetical and me being greedy?.....

I'm laughing because you're wrong if you think they wouldn't help us...................and yes I am also a jerk.

Btw, which lineup is better:

Ulis
Perkins
Kris
Connor
Rebraca
Patrick
Sandfort

(sparingly- Dix, Bowen, Ogundele, Mulvey)

-or-

Joe T
Perkins
Kris
Rebraca
Nunge
Ulis
Connor
Patrick
Sandfort

(of course I should factor in that Fran will play/start his kids over at least one of the above.............)

I agree with Evil on both counts - this team would be much better with Joe T and Nunge and he is a jerk! - just kidding, :).

It's not even close to being debatable how much better we'd be with those two. That being said, I don't blame Fran for both transferring - Nunge for personal reasons and Joe T insisting on a guaranteed 30+ minutes a game (if memory serves). You can't let players dictate that type of thing or you lose control and respect of the players. Fran did the right thing. The sad thing is I think Joe T would be getting close to that this season anyway.

Keegan and Kris would have been nice but would have impacted CMAC/PMAC playing time.

I suppose Fran could start CMAC at PG and PMAC backup minutes and still meet the At-Least-One lineup requirement.

If Nunge had stayed then we would not have gotten Rebraca, and that's what I stated in my original post. Of course if you add Nunge to the existing team then we probably would be better. Rebraca wasn't going to come to Iowa to sit on the bench. Remember Rebraca came last year, not this year. We had Keagan as well so if Nunge would have stayed, there would have been very limited playing time for Rebraca. Based on that, you're lineup is just fantasy so it doesn't really apply.

Just water over the dam. Every team seems to suffer some subtractions each season, but a lot of them found ways to diminish the damage through the portal. Iowa wasn't prepared financially (NIL) or evidently attractive enough to do this. Rebraca was a nice find for McCaffery, but I'm pretty sure he didn't lure him here with money and I doubt there were a ton of schools vying for Filip's services.

I have heard this bantered about in the past, but I don't think anyone has heard that Joe or Fran said this openly (or not openly). Just wondered if anyone else has info on this.

If you do a search of the forum there are links to articles with this information. It's a fact.
