Good for him... and it seems like all the kids have stayed eligible for the rest of the year, right? Sorry, it’s been too long since my school days. But we just can’t afford losing anyone to intelligibility.

While we're on the subject of players losing their eligibility, when was the last time an Iowa player was declared ineligible to finish the season after the Christmas break? Micheal Henderson in the Alford era? Forgive me if that's wrong....

Didn't Anthony Tucker have grade issues? Or was that just off court (in bar) conduct?

As I've noted here before, in 1960-61 Iowa started the season 12-3, then lost FOUR of its five starters to academic ineligibility at the semester. That left Iowa with a NINE-man roster, so they picked up a player from the student body so they could practice 5-on-5.

But the Hawkeyes didn't quit. Instead, they pulled together and, with future All-American center Don Nelson the only starter left, finished in a second-place tie (10-4) in the Big Ten.

Known as the Hustlin' Hawkeyes, that team remains the standard when it comes to in-season attrition.

Yes, Iowa has had some horrible luck so far this season, but this team still has great talent and, at least as importantly, it has the attitude and work ethic to keep winning anyway.

Iowa turned what could have been a disaster in 1960-61 into a storybook season behind star center Don Nelson. Don't be surprised if these Hawkeyes make a similar run behind star center Luka Garza.

BTW: Here's a link to 23 minutes of highlights to that 1960-61 season with some interesting background presented in the first few minutes:

I love what this young man brings to the table! The poor guy got shafted repeatedly in his few minutes on the court against Cincinnati and had to hurt his psyche big time.

I'm happy for Joe. As a true frosh he will have good games but there will likely be a couple of bad ones too. By this time next year, we will have a very solid player in Joe. His upside is huge.
Agreed!

It would be nice though if threads like this, after a good performance, would get at least half the attention of ones after a bad game!

:(

You play to win! Who cares about hurt feelings?

BTW, based on how he did last game, I'd say he's just "a little" stronger mentally/emotionally than many on here seem to think.....

I assumed when he said psyche he wasn't talking about hurt feelings but rather his confidence.

Ray Thompson maybe?

i see it as hurt feelings causing a lack of confidence.
