Another great game and incredible 18 point second half for Wieskamp. Muscatine will take on top ranked Iowa City West at the US Cellular Center on Tuesday. Connor McCaffery had 24 pts on 9-12 shooting to lead IC West in its 71-44 win vs PV.

Linn-Mar is down this year. Wish the Muskies weren't paired against West IC. Would be fun to see Joe W. at the state tourney. It'll take an incredible upset to get him to state, because IC West is a tremendous defensive team, and can double-team Weiskamp with great defensive stars like Devontae Lane and still have both McCafferys available to do their thing.

How good of a ball-handler is Wieskamp? To excel in the Big Ten, he is going to need the ability to handle the ball to create his own shot in the half court. Any opinions on his handles?

Cant answer about handles but i believe he is at least 6'7? Better shooter and athlete than Uthoff but a bit shorter. IIRC

Handles are pretty good. I've watched video from last summer. Hard to believe he is only a junior.

Yeah Muscatine won't make it to state. They will always have to go through the IC schools.

Meanwhile NS & Bett play in another game to state.

I saw somewhere Joe is almost to 2,000 its already. Said if he doesn't injured, he will shatter all scoring records in 4A. That's pretty insane to think about. I think this kid is going to move up in the rankings next year. I wouldn't be shocked to see the "blue bloods" come a calling.

From what I have seen "limited" in 4 games he reminds me of Decker. He was very "team oriented" early in the season. He would pass the ball and try to set up his teammates and it worked at times. But after Xmas break he decided to become more aggressive and WOW! HE had a couple of 30+ games and he was able to drive to the hoop and also catch and shoot. He is a damn nice player and he still even tried setting up his teammates as well. The kid is an overall good player. I think he will be a good one for Iowa (might take 1-2 years to adjust to the college game).

Muscatine should be pretty damn good and have a better chance next year to get by Iowa city West team that's losing some great players, as 6 of the top 7 or 8 players for Muscatine are Juniors.

I wouldn't expect too much from the Iowa City schools in the future with Liberty High opening up next year. Talent will spread out between the schools too much similar to Ankeny a few years ago and guessing what will happen to Waukee here in the few years.

I think the blue bloods can save their quarter. I'd say Joe is as solid a commitment as possible. He'll be Hawk.

From what I've been hearing at the games he is solid with the Hawks.

I don't think he's anywhere near 2,000 at this point, is he?

I checked and he had right at 400 as fr, 500 as so., and 605 this year. So he would need 500 next year.

Totals from Quikstats:

Fr = 409
So = 496
Ju = 640 (609 + 31 vs LM)

Total = 1,645

Very impressive, no matter how you slice it to be on that list. What kind of athlete was B Myers, to be on that list, and end up playing TE in the NFL!
I'd have to say though that Joe W. is accomplishing this feat agaisnt a higher level of competition than quite a few of these players at 1A and 2A schools.No disrespect meant, There still crazy numbers, just think Joe will be plenty ready to contribute as a D1 player early on.

Actually 4 0f the top 8 are seniors but the the Muskies have 6 quality juniors
