New 247 ratings:
JoeT: .8843
Chanse Robinson: .8833
Desmond Polk: .8813

The last 2 have been high on Iowa’s 2020 ‘get’ list. So, if you think Robinson and Polk are skilled (which if you’ve seen their tape you know they are), then perhaps JoeT might be a better get than you first thought.

Good stuff....I hope this is close to accurate. Chanse Robinson is tremendously athletic for his size...very very impressive video clips that I have seen. I would take him RIGHT NOW if we could get him to sign up.

Haven't seen as much of Desmond Polk but I think our chances with him are as good as with any recruit (just my wild guess) based on what I have seen and read.

I don't care about ratings.

Aaron White wasn't rated very high.

The kid will have every opportunity to be successful at Iowa. Assigning some numeric value to that is silly.

I get what you are saying.....and clearly ratings don't always end up being correct, BUT, a "highly ranked recruit" or recruiting class has lots of advantages and is most likely a sign of future success. So, generally speaking I enjoy rankings but take them with a grain of salt.

All that said, you may be right, I'm not trying to argue I just have a slightly different perspective.

I don't know what criteria was used to establish those numeric values but there is less than a quarter of one percent difference between the three of them. That would suggest they are basically at the same skill level?

I get it. And you're a good poster, so I don't worry about you.

It's the fans who look at star ratings and think they're the end all be all of how a kid should perform I take issue with. Because if a 4 star kid (like Moss) isn't consistently putting up 20 a night, all the sudden they are a bust and a wasted scholarship.

For the record, I'm excited to see Joe T, CJ, etc. play this year, but I'm keeping it in perspective. They're human. And worst of all, freshmen. :p

Aaron’s composite was very similar to Joe’s so, quite obviously, we are getting another Aaron White in guard form :D

In spite of his tape and reputation being just what we’ve been craving at PG, JoeT hasn’t been anticipated as much as you’d think he would be. This perhaps because he isn’t hyped to be as complete a player as DJ Carton, ranked in the high .90s. So fans looked forward to 2020. My point is that guys we’ve been hoping to get in 2020 now are ranked close to JoeT. I notice that Tyler Beard is newly ranked at .8910 too.

About rankings themselves, of course take them with a big grain of salt. They are hit and miss and have other motivations behind them. But often, certainly not always, they have some accuracy.

Ratings are correct more often than wrong; but, any given player can under or over perform predictive ratings.

Joey T has risen on ESPN, from a high three star to a low four star (between 101 and about 120 nationally) Now it looks like he's rising on 247. Anybody know how Scout or other services are treating him?

Perhaps CJ is the best Whitey analogy. Didn't get much attention before his senior year and then blew it up after he committed, so not much recruiting attention came his way later.

Joey T's national profile has grown since he was being first recruited by F McC. Given his recruiting rating we should reasonably expect Joey T to have a career like Jordan or Mike G-both similarly rated ESPN 4*s (low 95-120 nationally). Its not guaranteed but it is a reasonable target expectation.

Joe T's ratings keep improving. He must be showing his skills. Cannot wait to see him in Black & Gold!
